Storm_NL
Bring on the mud! It'll put the amateur fair-weather festival-goers off for another year...... More tickets for us! William of Walworth
Link for JACKONE's latest update (17th May) on Netweather -- I don't think anyone posted the link so far on here? He's right to give a mixed prediction and not commit himself, because the weekly runs and the daily projections (calculated from a range of different data in both cases I think) so completely contradict each other. More than they normally would. Of one thing only can we be certain, prospects will resolve in one direction or the other as time goes on, and we have plenty of time left. Never excluding the chance that our fate will be stuck right in the middle between those two extremes ... Glasto Weather Fate plays with us like that. I'm just back from an EXCEEDINGLY wet cold and windy Bearded Theory, with added Twister that destroyed the main stage, so I don't think I'm going out ona limb to suggest that we'll do better than THAT in late June anyway. William of Walworth
No! No! Bad! There has to be a zero tolerance on rain. No storms. No rain. No showers. No 'short blast to get rid of the dust'. No 'light drizzle to damp things down'. Just bright blue skies and sun fropm Tuesday to Tuesday. ZERO TOLERANCE! sinhala
No Rain No Mud No Compromise!!! Mud Loving Freaks have had their joy in 2007. It's our turn now. Remember, there's been no festival COMPLETELY free of rain, not even a shower, since 1995 (although 2002 and 2003 came close). After 14 years we're well overdue an unbroken scorcher. Filthy
There was definitely a shower in the early hours of Sunday morning in 1999. I was at a very low ebb, went in a bar in the green fields to shelter and saw an impromptu performance from alabama 3 which perked me up no end NO RAIN NO COMPROMISE
Lexx
I don't remember much if any at all in 1999 ? This link is worth reading as it talks about the much vaunted Jetstream and Azores High :- http://www.geos.ed.ac.uk/homes/s0094337/Seasonal.html

Kowalski_1888
Dry all the way. The only thing I'm looking for to be wet is the beer!
Kowalski_1888
THe shower on Sunday morning 1999 was quite heavy and quite long lasting -- at least two hours. I do remember that because memories of the total mudbath that was 1998 were so fresh and worrying at that time. I was in REAL fear that it would continue all day ..... But agreed, 1999 was good overall -- it dried and warmed up on Sunday and the rain did little damage, all gone by the afternoon. Earlier on in the festival, it was quite cloudy mainly before the Saturday, and not ridiculously warm by any means, but the sheer relief of being able to SIT DOWN where you wanted assumed much more positive proportions for most because of the conditions the two years on the trot preceding it. Mudbaths I and II (1997 and 1998), and III (2007)** will stop long on the memory. Anything better is good but we are long overdue a VERY good year now. **I don't count 1985 because only extreme old schoolers made that one , or 2005 either even, because so much good weather came both before and after the Friday morning deluge and flood. Had all cleared up by Sunday and mostly dried out in most parts. 2004 was borderline mudbath, mudbath-lite if you will.
spiky_simon
This will be my fifth Glastonbury. I have never been to a muddy one -- seems like every year I can't go it pisses down. So, using my excellent deductive powers, it will be fine and sunny, simply because I am going

Pinhead
Its funny - always remembered 1999 as being fairly dry. However, was encoding the old VHS coverage for that year to DVD the other day and it really was quite damp. Seems to have been where the old 'rained during Travis' anecdote came from, though it wasn't when they actually played 'The Rain'. Couple of other bands look like they played in the wet too, though seems to have been dry in the evening, e.g. for the REM; Orbital sets etc. Can't believe it has rained at least a bit sine 1995. Oh we are so due for another of those totally dry, dusty years again. Hm, 'Server too Busy' message when posting. Site really starting to get popular now as we approach one month to the festi. Ed209
Can people please stop panicking about specific forecasts for Glasto week, its way too early for that, they are completely unreliable. What we need to look at at this stage are the Met offices predictions for general trends this summer..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8057528.stm This is what we like to see

dwukky
why does it feel like the weather isn't as 'emphatic' as it has been in previous years, I actually had to goto the second page to find this thread, just to bump it with this drivil to give it a chance of not sliding off for good, and possible shock horror a second thread being started !! roll on glasto - admit it - regardless of everything (almost) you'll enjoy it!
