r0cky
Was it? Oops. I can't really recall the specific days too well but I do remember the weather being good after the initial downpour. If it's as good as last year's i'll be happy.

I may have put the scud on us all am starting to worry now Edited June 8, 2009 by honey_d
Glastonbury_2011
Yeah, but no worse than last years. Sustained rain on more than one night, wouldn't be so much fun! At least it was fairly well contained to Thursday night, Friday AM in 2008.

kohoutec
Poor old NME, no longer Glasto sponsors so no doubt they like to try and put the boot in. Pathetic really, a bit like their teeny mag
r0cky
I've yet to experience a really bad Glastonbury but there's going to be one eventually. I'm with everyone when I say it'd probably ruin the whole experience. Spending hours in a tent trying to fend off streams of water isn't my idea of fun. Mr Ploppy
As i was saying above this acticle just says that every year there is this weather happening in june, the expect never actually says this year there will be a monsoon at glastonbury he just says that europe experiences monsoon type weather first week and the last 2 weeks of june. Which baffles me as why does he not just say June is a bit shit for weather and it rains alot.
titch juicy
i thought it was widely acknowledged that june was euro monsoon month- all of june not just the start- this is why glasto is often a wash out and is responsible for biblical strom 2005
HastingsBoy
2007 wasn't good. Trudging around in deep mud. What really got to me, was every night it seemed to rain, and the Sunday was the worst. Drizzle and rain set in as from mid-afternoon (don't remember precisely), but we were trying to keep our camp fire going, it just didn't stop. Watched The Chemical Brothers on The Other stage with the lasers shining through the rain. Then it just got heavier. So no bouncing around site enjoying the incredible last night atmosphere. Didn't help with most of my friends having to catch coaches at stupid o'clock through the night. Everything got wet. My mobile phone and camera got wet standing out in the rain for so long. Even with waterproofs and poncho on, eventually the rain seeps through.

daggermouth
Yeah 2007 was horrible especially the sunday, the rain the pevious days wasnt too bad but the sunday watching the chems my waterproofs gave up their defences and i ended up getting soaked and then having to spend 12 hours to get out of the car park on the monday i wasnt feeling perticually great but i still had an awsome time and didnt need to think twice about going back in 08 and roll on any weather this year. As ive been saying to my mates "prepare for the worst, hope for the best".
kohoutec
I like to think about it in terms of all the years I've been going. e.g. 92 - Nice 93 - Nice 94 - Nice 95 - f**king scorching 97 - shit 98 - shit 99 - nice 2000 - nice 2002 - nice 2003 - not bad nice * 2004 - could've been better 2005 - we all know what happened this year, but bear in mind wed/thur/sun were scorchers 2007 - shit 2008 - not bad Now I could've got some of the years mixed up, but I think the above is fairly accurate. Notice the amount of "nice" or above vs "shit" [Edit] *updated 2003 as I was wrong by all accounts and it was another nice Edited June 8, 2009 by kohoutec

neilt
2007 was awful. Rain every night and most days. Almost ruined it for me and I'm sure it was the real reason for last years slow sales. I remember watching people packing up to go home on Saturday morning! I'm certain that the forecasts are not indicating anything like the intensity and longevity of the rain we had that year. That was a one off.
evansonuk
Dont get too down about it... How many websites have you been reading with regards to weather...? I must've read about 10 seperate ones...none of them are saying terrential rain, some say showers, but the majority have sunny with clouds. And as for NME....what an absolute load of horse crap...every year the same monsoon hits glastonbury..??? Absolute cock! Im not having it, nor will i accept some half wit article without any real backup to why this person thinks it. Fear not... Check out an earlier link to accuweather... - i followed this one last year and it got it spot on. Heavy rani thurs night, showers/overcast fri, sun for the remainder. That was pretty accurate. Chins up...if people start getting all glum on here it makes the person reading it feel glum too...and thats a pretty glulm chain reaciton. Peace and Love! russycarps
2003 was scorching wasnt it? Also what year was brian wilson? I got so badly sunburned that afternoon! Was radiohead 1997? that was horrific weather. Anyway, I have a physical geography degree and as such am qualified to say it is gonna be HOT HOT HOT! neil_hill_1
They don't even know what's going on in 5 minutes, so how the hell can they predict what's happening 2 weeks away? We were forecast rain from Friday all the way til Tuesday & it rained all day Saturday & that's it, they're all idiots, idiots I tell you!
