luckysalt
Im not fussed about seeing them, I don't listen to them in my own time, and I've herad their songs to death of the ones I like, seen themheadline V before in 2005 and they were that captivating that I left and watched Super Furry Animals headline the Union I can see myself giving them a listen again this time and then moving to another stage [by the way same with The Killers last time at V I left to go to Primal Scream]
theramm
They've got the back catalogue & talent to put on a blinder OR they could phone in a lacklustre performance & just get paid, ala Glastonbury a few years back. As Luckysalt said, I'll probably watch them for a bit, how long depends as much on the crowd as the band & if there's someone else on a smaller stage (prays for an Idlewild or Lemonheads Union headline spot). danlen
I have mixed opions the same as you. If they belt out the classics then will definately be quality. But will I be covered in p, hve things nicked or punched? Will I watch them? Depends on who else is playing at the same time
Cal91
Seeing them at Manchester in June. So whether I see them or not again will depend on that gig, but sayin that I'll probably go and watch someone else on the night.
deegs
Definitely not a festival band. Terrible live. Even more terrible without Starkey.

jamesbduk
I disagree, Starkey was a shit drummer (like his dad) and I think the new guy is top (seen them at liverpool last year). Im a massive oasis fan and will probably end up watching them out of a sense of (misplaced) duty. They are a fantastic act live and have an amazing back catalogue from 8 amazing studio albums but despite this they ARE a poor choice for V headliners as for the reasons listed in other threads.... They do have an army of nob-head fans but for the most part they won't cause you no trouble...you just have to use your jedi senses to dodge the piss. As for the Killers....f**k it theyre not worth the effort writing about Edited February 15, 2009 by jamesbduk
Hairywookie
You can't truly believe all 8 studio albums are "amazing" surely?!!? Most people only really rate the first two... IMO the first three albums were fantastic, but since Giants, there's only been maybe 4-5 songs in total that are a worth a shit. That's 1 song per album... Liam's voice is fecked now too. jamesbduk
In my opinion, be here now is the worst album they've released. But saying that, take away the first 3 albums I still think oasis are a great band. Few bands have released one phenomenal album let alone 2 so I still think theyre worthy. Without the first 2 albums ppl would not make comparisons as much and just enjoy what is on the albums. For example Dig Out Your Soul doesnt even aspire to be another morning glory - its a totally different sound...if youd just heard that album first youd think it was good but when comparing it to def maybe of course it looks shit...but its still a good album. As for the 5 good songs since BHN... i think theres more than that: SOTSOG: Go Let It Out, Gas Panic HC: Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird, Little By Little, Born On A Different Cloud DBTT: Turn Up The Sun, Lyla, Importance Of Being Idle, Let There Be Love DOYS: The Turning, Shock Of The Lightening, Im Outta Time, Falling Down The Masterplan: pretty much the whole f**king album 15 tracks listed above there...if they were split into two albums and released by a new band, that new band woulda be very succesful and critically acclaimed im sure. Just because oasis are oasis they get bad reviews and bad press. I think Noel is one of his generations greatest song writers and the above is testament to that...and they dont inclue the first 3 even more succesful albums. They will never reach the hights of whats the story/defo maybe again, but they do keep releasing top class material..
danlen
8 Albums!! I have to agree only the first 3 are worth remembering. However I think Dig Out Your Soul was pretty impressive. After a couple of listens I thought "same old sh1t". But then had another listen after all the hype went and I liked it. Lets face it, never gonna be a good as the first 2 but still quality. But i'm sure the other stages will be good enough to leave their chav following. Bring on The Prodigy, Pendulum or Faithless
Bunny
Will never complain about Oasis - I just have to think of tunes like Champagne Supernova and Supersonic and that does it for me!! They were on top form last time round at Chelmsford and totally disagree that they are not a festival band as I believe that was a better performance than their two arena gigs I had seen. Maybe it's because Definitely Maybe hit when I was a 17 year old impressionable lad - but whenever I see or hear Oasis it just takes me back to my youth when Oasis were pretty much my soundtrack, along with Pulp, The Prodigy and Shed Seven!!! - Now 3 out of 4 over two V's aint bad!!! indie-rocknroll
Right here I am on my oasis soap box and no one will ever be able to talk me off it. fact their songs are rip offs They suported Kirsty McCall and Squeeze at the Heineken Festival when I was 14 years old (nearly 20 year's ago hayem) and they were as piss poor then as they are today. Their songs sound like football hooligan chanting songs and if you go to football matches, you usually hear football chants in the theme of an Oasis tune, Get that, songs for the masses (maybe that was their plan) I breifly tried to side step my soap box with Noels acoustic version of Slide Away but I jumped back on it again. bekimo
Oasis are one of those bands for me that I don't mind really. I never really was a huge fan of theirs, though I admit I do like some of their stuff and I was on the Oasis side of the Blur/Oasis debate "back in the day"!! But they do symbolise a breed of people I don't really care for!! And with Oasis being at V, no doubt they will attract these damn idiots who all seem to think that they ARE a Gallagher! Oh joy! xxtinkerbellxx
Im looking at it two ways... cant stand oasis now, as others said i like a few songs from first two albums but thats it really and i also wish that v would pull a shock headliner out the bag rather than repeating the acts every few years but then again at least i will go and experience headliner on another stage this year as ive only ever watched acts on v stage. geofelgie
Well I got annoyed by the whole Blur/Oasis thing as I thought neither were a patch on Pulp, let alone Radiohead. Some of Oasis' stuff is good but I just can't stand the whole posey, stand there and howl rather than sing side of it........and none of them are that talented as musicians....... so I've no desire to see them live. Give me the E Street Band in full cry any day!!!

tell
I think Oasis are a great band and am really looking forward to seeing them, However i have already brought Tickets for the Heaton Park gig in manchester so am a little gutted after forking out £50.00 to see them in june that i will be seing them again in august. would rather have someone else play. But hey ho, they are a great band i'm i'm sure i will enjoy it twice!
danny12345
I've got tickets to see Oasis at Wembley AND Benicassim so was hoping for somebody different but they are such a great band live i cant be disappointed. Cant really complain about seeing one of the best bands around too many times, especially as they havent done a (proper) tour in 3-4 years. I know alot of people are not too keen on seeing them but if you havent seen them in the past I strongly recommend you do. If you have and you wasnt impressed, thats why there are other stages. I honestly thought the killers headlining the other night would cause more of an uproar : ) !!!
