moss265
Could Depeche Mode be a possibility this year for the "legendary headliner"? They're touring europe this summer and doing a couple of festivals, so surely theres a chance. Are they popular enough in the UK or would there be a similar consensus like The Cure? £1.50 a pint
The prospect of seeing Depeche Mode lower on the bill than the Artic Monkeys or Kings of Leon makes me feel sick to my stomach.

thomasowen
Neither band would headline in my opinion (not that I think thats the right decision) and I couldn't see Depeche mode playing at all. I could still see The Cure playing somewhere on the bill.
Calm Like A Bomb
I hope so. I've been looking out for what UK festivals they may be at. They're rumoured for Wireless at the moment I think, but I think they would make an awesome Reading headliner. And with Placebo underneath them that would justify my £150 right there

luckysalt
Placebo are huge fans of Depeche Mode as well I still don't think they would suit the crowd at R&L though, and thus wouldn't be booked

halfpint
Although i would love to see depeche mode at the festival, having seen them twice already and really enjoying their gigs, i cant see it happening. I think the cure are much more likely with the NME award etc - but even cant see them playing.
devbot
Can anyone see Pearl Jam playing? Re-releasing Ten in march and got ninth album on the way?

kaosmark2
Depeche Mode + Placebo would be brilliant top pairing. Although I'd be surprised if they were offered.
tylerdurden
of course the cure would headline, the cure are internationally famous, they're a stadium band pretty much all over the world. as if they'd play in the same slot as say, qotsa, it'd be offensive to even ask the cure to do that. Calm Like A Bomb
That's a shame - but not suprising really. Apparently they are doing a huge UK arena tour towards the end of the year.
twenty_foot_chickens
Sounds cool, I missed out on O2 tickets - where have you heard that out of interest?

Calm Like A Bomb
Just to inform those who haven't spotted this already, Depeche Mode have added the following to their Tour of the Universe: 12/12/09 SECC, Glasgow 13/12/09 LG Arena, Birmingham 15/12/09 O2 Arena, London 18/12/09 MEN Arena, Manchester Tickets for which, are onsale now via Ticketmaster presale and have been all day. It's a bit odd really - not sure what the point in a presale is if everyone has access to it. The link is there for all on Depeche Mode's official site. So, why wait for Friday.
