NME Headliners

AFI saved my Saturday in 2003. Was watching Blur and got so bored that I walked off, just happened to end up in the Radio 1 tent in a drunken haze and they were absolutely awesome.

My predictions for NME are Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and one other

Seriously, AFI would be amazing, and they've got a new album coming out so they're likely targets, but not sure whether they'd headline. Babyshambles (shudder) and Manic Street Preachers are miles bigger.

I hope its not another indie-fest. There is such little variety on offer without the rock headliner on main stage. Someone like Ash, Weezer, AFI, Papa Roach... just something that isn't the same old regurgitated rubbish that seems to dominate now.

i saw glasvegas on sunday and was looking forward to them but was left dispointed. they are a good band but dont think they have enough material to headline

I think Glasvegas will headline NME but they do play very short sets, and ussualy only about 8 songs from the album.

Stereophonics are too big

They subheadlined Main stage at V and TITP last year

I think Ian Brown, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Glasvegas, The Streets are good guesses though, although maybe not the Streets not really the in act

I'm going to throw Peter Doherty into the ring here.

Solo album out april, got a academy tour booked and has already headlined the Royal Albert Hall.

Plus already headlined the NME stage last year with Babyshambles.

More probably second headliner in the tent though.

they totally are big enough, they headlined give it a name last time over here (07) and have headlined the tent before, just off the back of sing the sorrow being commercially succesful. if you think there's all of decemberunderground success (miss murder for instance...) and the new album then they can easily do it

I would love AFI to play again - they were brilliant when they last played. Sure December Underground was a little poor but they have enough classics to make any set amazing.

haha well yes. ridiculous! the cure are main stage headliners by any festival's standards.

biffy clyro? fingers crossed. don't see why not. a HUGE success last time (below ash) and due back on the circuit. Glasvegas and YYYs seem like good guesses.

I think Flaming Lips are more likely for other festvials, though I suppose I'd never have expected Radiohead for Leeds/ Reading....

Exactly, but if you go by the various threads on the subject, you'd think was a deluded fanboi refusing to accept that they've drifted into obscurity.

I dunno, I don't really see where Flaming Lips would go other than Glasto. I can see them playing under Radiohead. Probably not NME headliners though.

Not to say I disagree with the Phonics, but why is their name being thrown round so much? What evidence is there?

Otherwise I would love to see Idlewild on the stage, but I can't see them headlining sadly same with Placebo who are simply too big, could almost say the same for the Phonics, but the Manics were there last year...

If stereophonics play they will be top 3 on the main stage, They had one of the biggest crowds at V last year and absolutely blew me away with the greatest hits set they did.

A Stereophonics greatest hits set under radiohead would be a nice end to the day

Stereophonics, and Razorlight, have been announced as the Saturday headliners for this year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The appearance of the Stereophonics will be an exclusive UK festival appearance this year
