Efests Glastonbury Spotify

First of all, if anyone isn't using spotify, I usggest you get to www.spotify.com toot sweet, as it's now open to all UK users.

It's an appliction that looks a bit like itunes and that you can search any music and stream it off the net. It's also completely legal as the tracks added have been added by record labels and the artists get paid as it's ad or subscription funded. I can't say highly enough it's an utterly amazing way of discovering music, especially if you link it to your last.fm account.

Anyhoo, in light of last year's mix CD deabcle (I organised yet I didn't receive a single CD, and no one reported to have received mine  ) and posts from people saying they want to discover bands before Glasto, I've created an efests spotify playlist.

I've been through the rumours list and added songs of all the bands listed that are on spotify. Some acts I don't know so well, so I just added the most popular songs.

I'm going to try and keep it up to date up to when we have the line up so hopefully it will be a resource for people to dip in and maybe discover something new for Glastonbury.

I've also made it a collaborative playlist, so you guys can add tracks, but please don't delete loads of stuff as it's taken me ages to make this.

You need to download spotify first, but onceyou have it, open this link

Excellent idea, robith! I was going to put together a disc of new listens for my friends and family who are going to Glasto this year, but who needs it any more?

Now if only Spotify would sync with mp3 players for offline play... Hopefully the Spotify lot are working on it.

Excellent! I've been using Spotify for a few weeks now and it is awesome.

The day will come (not too far in the future) when even downloading music is not necessary! Yes there are some gaps in the database but I'm hugely impressed by the range (they even have lots of Crime & The City Solution!) and how easily and well this app works. If they could link it to Mini Lyrics that would be good!

NB: I live in Spain and it works fine.

The revolution continues! Let's just hope the Artists get enough reward for their efforts and that New Music keeps on coming!!

Great idea matey & well done for the effort.

I remember last year another eFester went to the trouble of creating a thread that had links to My Space page for most of the listed artists. Amazing and I used that as a source for checking out tunes especially of acts who I wasn't that familiar with but wanted to be.

I wish I could use Spotify, but it's not sorted in the US yet. It'd be really nice at work...I usually use last.fm, but they don't have many songs from Muse on their servers, and I've been on a real Muse kick recently.

Hmm, can't get the playlist link to work, but have installed Spotify and it seems great.

Did a search for Glastonbury instead, and found the Scouting for Girls track which I hadn't heard before, so not all bad

Edit: Ignore me, FireFox looking in the wrong place for the app, sorted & working now, and very good.
