Some lineup gossip

A friend of mine was coming back from London and met a certain Somerset dairy farmer on his way back from the NME awards. He got talking to him and although he wouldn't give much away he did tell him a few names (most of which we know). Apparently he mentioned Springsteen, Neil Young, Lily Allen, Blur and (this is the one that excited me immensely) Mr Nick Cave

Aah, the old story about my mate was on a train with a farmer. You could tell me your dog ate your homework and if it included Nick Cave playing Glasto then i'm in. My friend you have made my Thursday afternoon!

All I need now is someone to take a canal barge ride with Emily Eavis and her to reveal that JUSTICE and Prodigy are playing

Perhaps the recent list I provided , was a bit more geniune than first thought !

I didn't rule out the possibility that it was genuine to some extent, but it remains the case that two of the acts on the list you posted hadn't been booked at the point you published the list.

Your list was also claimed to be an Other Stage list, and it appears (from what's above) that Cave isn't playing the Other Stage.

I think most of the new bands will be placed somewhere between the Park, John Peel and other stage anyways, which there seems to be very few rumours for as of yet. Don't sweat it! AND you can guarantee to see some amazing new talent on stages like BBC Introducing and the Late n Live.

To be fair though, Nick Cave is utterly brilliant, and I have no idea what different watching bands that are deemed "new" or "old" makes....NC and the bad seeds had a new album out recently which I would trade for 5 bloody Arctic Monkey's albums if I had the chance (and they had a 5 album shelf life)

who do people think the act is who he has signed already for next year?

if it's at the nme awards im guessing it may be someone who picked up an award? any guesses?

has to be someone special for the 40th

I wouldn't really take too much notice of last night's supposed booking for next year.

Eavis says near enough at the end of every festival that he's already booked one or more acts for the next year, yet that's clearly blatantly false from the hoops that have to be jumped thru to sort the acts for the next year.

There's a very long time between now and next year, so any "yeah, they'll do it" mentioned now isn't really going to mean too much nine months or so later when they get around to really sorting out the acts.

I'll agree with that statement new music today is quite dire.

But Muse, Kasabian, Foo Fighters, White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age are all great bands in my opinion, i'd be over the moon if any of those were playing!

Guess just because i haven't heard of any of the older acts being announced (expect blur) its getting to me abit .
