No bottle caps in the arena

is that really gonna be the case? thats bollocks!!! AGAIN a case of idiots ruining it for everyone else... i understand it, so people can't throw full bottles or ones filled with gravel or whatever, even if it IS some shitty emo band onstage there's no need. I'm sure for every one that hits the lead singer 10 others hit random crowd members... but if the weather is like '06 (PLEASE!) then it'll never happen, people simply won't let it.

They had this kind of system at the warehouse project, only, it was made more inconvenient as you couldn't take your bottle of water out to the smoking area with you and had to leave it on the floor, leaving yourself vunerable to spikers (you can make your own mind up whether that's a good thing at a rave lol).

It worked out allright in the end, and I'm sure at donnington, it can't be that hard to smuggle a bottle top in. I do Kind of understand the logic behind it, as, the last time i went (06) the bottle fights were absolutely brutal. It's funny actually, I can remeber trying to push my way to the front for Gn'r after having seen the prodigy & I was smacked on the back of the head by something that felt really heavy. It was a full raw chicken.

You could probably get away with walkiing in with an uncapped bottle in one hand and the cap in the other! With the volume of people going in they can't be that thorough...

Besides I really can't see this law being enforced, it certainly wasn't the case last year!

Looks like they've scrapped the ridiculous rule this year.

Taken from the DL forum, John's Blogs:

Thursday

We had a very sensible meeting today looking at what can and cannot be taken in to the campsite and arena. One of the strange things listed in the rules, and has been there since festivals began, is that bottle tops need to be removed from plastic bottles taken in to the arena or served by traders. We think the reason for this is back to when they must have been made out of heavier material as if you aimed one at the stage and gave it your best over arm, with a prevailing wind and down hill trajectory, it might go all of 4 feet! The other theory is to stop people throwing bottles of piss at the stage but again, top or no top, it’s going to reach the stage and hurt! So tops are left on but its still limited to plastic bottles 500ml and under for the arena and NO GLASS ANYWHERE!
