I've been to download fest for the last few years, but really well and truely can't afford it this year. I've got a T in the Park ticket, but i'd love to experience working as a volunteer.. Anyone done it themselves?

I only live a half hr drive away too, so it's not too bad. and my birthdays on the 15th of June!

litter pickers get paid £50 a day and get a free festival ticket too, for around 8 hours work a day which is usually 9-5 so you still get to see pretty much all the acts , so its not too bad, especially if your short of cash.

i've never worked Download but done Glastonbury. and it was great! had to do 3x8 hour shifts during the week we there which aint much, and only one of those 3 shifts was actually over the fri-sun period. did stewarding the carparks. we had a private campsite, discounted food van, and the company we worked for sold us cheap booze, and everyone was really friendly to each other. if you can do it, i'd do it.

you dont just work for the 3 days of the festival, you work one day before, and then about 4 days afterwards clearing up the campsites and the areas where all the traders have been and the like !

worked the main stage bar at download. the hours were really long

(10am - 11pm)

but if you get on the main stage bar you see all the bands on the main stage so its not too bad, just amkes you wishg youd paid for a ticket though rather than worked it lol

  • 3 weeks later...

its usually catering companies.

I got in with a bit of luck when the catering company my mate worked for needed extra experienced bar staff. Free festival; shitty working hours.
