Hey folks,

So I'm reading a lot that headliners shouldn't play consecutive years, or they should have a 5 year break before appearing again. So that effectively rules out KOL, Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, White Stripes and so on.

But is it really that much of an issue? I've been going to Glastonbury since the 90's and have often missed an act that I would welcome the chance to see the following year. And there's bands I've enjoyed so much I'd love to see them again anyway. I think the notion that bands 'wear out their welcome' or whatever is a bit much? It's not like they're forcing themselves into my front room and slamming their tunes down my ears on a daily basis. And hey, if we think one listen per 5 years is too much, we can go off to another stage and take in something else. Surely there will be thousands upon thousands of folks who were not there last year, much less 5 years ago.

Of course it would be lazy and V-ish to just keep putting on the same bands year after year. To just scan the charts and pick the frontrunners is not what I'm saying. But to simply dismiss someone like KOL because they played last year is shortsighted on the part of the organisers.

Most of the bands I mentioned have a lot of new material, so it's not even like it would be the same set.. I love the festival. Love that people like Bruce, Neil Young and Blur are all likely to play. You wouldn't get that anywhere else in the world. But by dismissing those who have played recently detrimentally affects the power of the festival as a whole...

There can only be three headliners. But there are lots of contenders for those three spots.

You personally may not have seen one of the three headliners, but others have, lots of others in fact.

Thats why.

People have nothing against a recent headliner playing at glasto again, except KoL would demand a headline slot that would be better off going to someone else.

Silly Person.................

This is a non sensical (good new word) argument............ Why should they play 2 years in a row?? Or even within 3,4,5,6 years................. Benisright is funnily enough right!!! Only 3 slots many many bands and as for KOL that should be enough from them for about 40 years...................... (hoping).................... Not a fan..........................

:(:D:D

I wasn't saying other bands should be deprived to allow other acts have consecutive performances. And this isn't a KOL campaign, they are simply a good example to use because they're currently one of the most popular bands in the world and they played last year, yet were never considered to play again this year. Like many bands in years gone by.

I've been to Glastonbury lots of times. I love it. Love their policy on bands, but if a band has new material to play then what's the problem?

Sorry for being so 'silly' <_<

But they played last year and lots of people saw them last year. It isnt fair on those that didnt want to see KoL last year and dont want to see them this year. It isnt fair on those that did see them last year and want something new.

If you want to see an act headline every time they bring out a new song. Then go to one of their gigs!
