Quick question for anyone who perhaps knows a bit more about tents that me.

Is this any good for Glasto?

It's just for me, so a 2 man is fine, but is it going to protect me from the.....urrrr..... non-stop sunshine we shall be getting :)

Cheers to anyone that can advise me, ive always just nicked my parents tent in the past for festivals, but I think thats proberbly had its day.

2000 hydrostatic head is quite decent, to protect you from the...sunshine :)

what i had/have on my tent (not sure what state my tent is in i think there is a snapped pole in it)

I personally would not buy pop-up tent;

Awkward to carry on top of your other stuff

Awkward to put away

No porch (can not stress the virtues of a porch enough (wet wellies/chair), unless you have a gazebo and even then)

Bad camping experience using one though that wasn't really the tent's fault...too many bad memories :) lol

No, no, no, and no.

Never. Never ever.

The key word is "Single Skin" - I would never, ever recommend anyone sleep in a Single Skin tent, for various reasons that have been done to death (do a search, you'll find a dozen threas about this).

I'd also suggest getting a tent with a small Porch/Storage area, but that's probably more preference than essential.

Even if you just want to go as quick, cheap, and easy as possible, this tent from Decathlon is cheaper, double skinned, and likely to have noticeably better build quality.. It's a bit smaller, but still should just about be OK if you're not bringing massive amounts of stuff.

Yeeah I prefer the once with double skin and a porch to store wellies, drinks etc..

A mate took one of these to Reading last year. He got very wet on the first night. We decided to rip open a bin bag and ducktape it to the top of the tent. The black bin bag kept the tent really cool during the day (the only bearable tent we could actually sit in) but also warm and dry at night. Interesting story for you there :P

We took the same tent to glastonbury last year and regretted it badly. Every morning there was condensation dripping on me bleeding head along with damp sleeping bags and damp clothes.

Get a double skin tent - you won't regret it.

We were camped next to a couple of girls last year who had one of these each! They took seconds to put a, which I think is the only bonus to them! They said that they were soaked every morning with the condensation and also they are very small, eg both girls ended up sleeping with their legs hanging out of their tents and they were only about 5ft 2"!

We had a really good two-man tent which got us through the biblical storm of 2005 and has plenty of room in the porch for wellies etc it was by Eurohike and it was called Kent I think!

Hope this helps! :lol::lol:

I'm one of those dead against single skinners as well.

That said, of people who have bought them, there are those who love those, and there are those who said never again as they failed them by letting water in. It seems as if the quality is variable.

Whats the issues with single skinners? Condensation has nowhere to go (you will generate a lot) and anything resting against the sides when its raining, will help the water through. It was much worse with canvas tents, but still happens with the new materials.

For a pop-up tent,This Vango DS 200 seems to have design features that would overcome most of the issues people have reported with the pop-ups.
