Joe Bananas

Was thinking of buying a camping kit off of Joe Bananas (http://www.joe-bananas.co.uk/index.php) and collecting it there - coming down from Scotland by coach and it'd be the easiest arrangement for us to pick up all our stuff there on the Wednesday morning/early afternoon then pitch camp.

Have people used them before? Where abouts are they located in relation to the entry gates from the coach drop-off point? What like are the Gelert Quick Pitch tents used in their camping packs?

Cheers in advance,

OLF

I'd say your best bet is to stick with the Millets onsite, you'll get a tent that keeps you dry for a start and they don't Jack up the prices for the festival so you're not going to be ripped off! They always have quite a few budget tents at the stalls. Maybe if you contact them they will be able to tell you what they plan to stock over the weekend so you know what you can and cannot get.

There are plenty of places on site to buy all kinds of camping equipment, I wouldn't rely on Joe Bananas starter camping sets, it's less likely to keep you warm and comfy than my nieces £9 play tent! They do sell nice warm blankets and gloves though :P

Tangerine fields are going to be there this year, you arrive to a ready pitched tent with airbed and sleeping bags, 2,4 or 6 person.

We used them at 2 festivals last year, really good set up, works out about £70pp but well worth it IMO, especialy If you are travelling a long way.

I think they go on sale next week www.tangerinefields.co.uk

Friend got a Joe Bananas camping kit for another festival two years ago. For the money (not a lot) it was ok, but luckily the weather held. Ad rop of rain or a gust of wind would have destroyed the "tent" he got, so have a care given the weather history at Glasto!

From Gate A, where the bus station is, follow signs to the Other Stage. You'll go via John Peel and the Dance Village.

When you get to the Other Stage, look to right hand corner of the field. You'll see a big tent: That's the Queens Head.

Milletts is round the back.

Like everyone else has said, don't get one of those single skin tents that JB sells.

JBs are fine for basics... but they need to up their game on the more 'technical' thing like tents.

Maybe ten years ago people weren't too fussy, but these days there's good kit for much less money than Banana's barely-ok stuff.

As Francis said above, go to the on-site Millets for things like tents.

Not read all of the replies but Joe Bananas are a bloody good group of guys, and by guys I mean guys and gals, if you order to pick up all will be fine.

You won't need to though as all of gods rich tapestry of camping gear will be on sale and will be available for all.

Take wellys with you just incase, to avoid the stampede if it rains and don't get one of those pop up tents... they are shite

I take it the reason you're not buying before you go is because you won't be able to carry it cos of all the booze you're taking?

(I'm qualified to say that as my girlfriend's family is scottish)

i wont hear a word said against jb's as for many of us oldies it was almost our first glasto stage!! they used to have a massive sound system and after midnight could have about 100 people raving away between the long drops and the meeting point. a very clear glasto memory.....tho i would never buy tent there but many blankets and gloves ive bought happily over the years

Joe Bananas used to be legendary back in the the old days before the super fence - I remember buying dry blankets from them in the dead of night because I was freezing my ass off during a wet year. These days they're probably still good for basics.

The tent is a pretty important thing, I think you should buy a decent one and take it with you on the coach, everything else you could buy there. A decent tent won't weight that much or be that big. You're a rufty tufty scot, you can manage to carry a tent from the coach park to your chosen campsite! Trust me it's worth it - A glastonbury veteran.

By the way, I hope you're planning on taking all the gear you buy home with you!

im travelling from australia and just wanted to see if anyone knew if tangerine fields will be selling packages for sure?? nothing is up on their site??

I was going to go with Joe Bananas, but after reading this thread i think ill try else wear.

Do tents from the shops usually sell out??

And could anyone recommend any good brands - really like the idea of JBs and TFs as it means i don't have to lug a huge tent with me there and back..

'###### Tent Solutions' (what a name) are doing a campsite adjacent the fence, with tents set up.

Cheaper, if you have time, would be to go to a camping shop in the UK beforehand and buy one. And of course, pack it up and take it to on site recycling before you leave.

Another option is to buy your gear from Millets on site. Last year their stall was in the market area to the far right of the Other Stage. They are a 'proper' camping shop, rather than a 'festival special'.
