Yesterday i went through the usual process of 1 x lap top, 1 x telephone and 1 x work computer with 3 x credit cards, result 12 tickets for me and my friends.

My works know it is V ticket day so let me sit all morning pressing re dial and re fresh on ht einternet, now one worrying thing is yesterday straight through, no problem, no delay at all. All 12 ticket sorted, it took me hours last year.

Went on later in the afternoon, still you could get straight through.

They have JJB pulled out and the Thursday extra day cancelled, due to the same acts appearing as in other year's people might think, been there done it and seen them before and keep hold of their money.

Me, I have my tickets and will be sat on Orange campsite with my friends either way (finger crossed) and will have a ball but there are soo many people dropping out who i thought were pasionate followers of V, the line ups at other festival don't appear any better with repeat head liners etc..

I think that's the way it's going this year...I, for one am not joining in the rush for tickets this year....going to wait until closer to...a few reasons really

I'm going to give Glastonbury a punt this year, I can't afford to pay for tickets this close to paying for Glasto tickets, I can't really get excited about the line up either, there is nothing there that really made me sit up!

I also think that tickets will be available upto the date this year as well....a lot of the bands announced have sizeable gigs planned.

Although saying that I know I will get seriously itchy fingers as it gets closer to the date....I can't imagine not going especially after the laugh we had last year.

Yeah the Virgin tickets were on sale yesterday for pre registered but were available all day, last year you could only gor on for an hour or so.

I do feel they will be on sale all year, will see if they do the "sold out" stance on fruday when they go back on sales to everyone.

Well i've paid and booked mine, i want to support V to make sure it happens I will cry if it cancelled ha ha

As somebody who has done the last 5 V festivals and deciding not to attend another one ever after the crap time I had last year (another story!) I was still curious to see who they had lined up this year.

After seeing who is headlining and rest of the names released I really think they will struggle to sell out this year. It's looking more and more like a line up that wouldn't have looked out of place on the Radio 1 Roadshow! I know there are more names to release but if that is the initial batch to tempt people to buy tickets then they have really let themselves down. The organisers treat their customers who, pay a huge amount of money to attend a festival, they are treated like nothing more than cattle. You go to V for the music, nothing else so, at least they could line up better headliners (it's like ground hog day with Oasis and The Killers, they've headlined everything!) and, a more diverse mix of acts. As for JJB dropping out that will be a serious amount of money less available to book the bands that demand huge wages *cough oasis cough* so why not try and book bands that have smaller egos and wage demands.

V festival was the first festival I attended and I have had some fantastic times there but, the standards of acts are getting worse. They seem to want to book the same bands every year. If they don't start getting a better standard of line up then I think V will struggle and people will start abandoning it like a sinking ship - loyalty will not matter!

I am more excited about the Bearded Theory line-up and that is only costing me £50!

valid opinion etc...but I think most people who are dropping out are not "passionate followers of V" but more like passionate followers of the music they like. Hence why I'm prob not gonna go. None of the bands appeal to me. It has nothing to do with my (former) love for V Fest, it's that I refuse to pay £160 odd to basically sit in a field and drink with my mates while shit (IMO) bands play.

People are using the excuse "I'll go and have a good time with my mates regardless" but I can just as easily go to one of the many fields in Essex with loads of my mates, stick my iPod on the car stereo and crack open a beer. For free.

There are other reasons why I'm no longer a V regular, but the taste of music in the lineup is the main one.

Strangely enough, I know more people who want to go this year than were wanting to go last year!! You see, I understand what people are saying about V having this way of going for who's popular at the time. The reason I got to V is because it is cheesy and commercial. If I didn't enjoy a bit of commercial cheese V would be the last place I went.

For me, V weekend is all about me and my mates seeing a load of bands/groups/artists who we would never normally see, we wouldn't want to spend £30 to go and see the saturdays, but I bet the lads will be stoods they ogling the ladies with their smuggled-in soco.

That all being said (like having defended my choice to still buy tickets) I think V will sell out this year. However much we hate to admit it Indie, Oasis and The Killers both have big followings.

B x

PS: Evening entertainment for 2009 - Chav Bashing?!? Anyone?

should have got justin timberlake and aerosmith as headliners, would have been perfect. Im not the biggest fans of either, but everyone loves justin and hes made loads of good songs and aerosmith have got a great back catalogue and are supposed to be great live. Plus no one would expect them 2.

last years was good i had to miss muse to see prodigy

and miss verve to watch chemical brothers.

2 years ago the headlines was good plus the acts during the day was amazing.

JT at V now that would be bloody good - and Aerosmith too, yes please to both!!!

This will be my third year at V and it being the only festival I've ever been to, other than Hyde Park Calling (festival!?) I like it because of the variation of music - I would never go and see some of the acts that I have found myself watching in the past two years (Iglu and the Hartleys being one of them, but great fun!), was never a fan of Muse until last year.

I like the fact that each year is different, I know a lot of you say that the line-up is "safe" and "lazy" - but I love being able to see Squeeze, Lenny Kravitz, Kings of Leon and Verve, all on the same stage!!!! Bloody brilliant!!!
