precious_lillywhite
A friend of mine had to leave to a wedding last year & then come back, it *is* doable But - to see another band??? I wouldn't bother when there is so much music going on at Glasto!! I wouldn't leave to go to another gig, you'll already be at the best!! mutley8511
well music is a very personal thing and my fav band in wordl is dave matthews. They don't play britain that often, until theire gig at wembley in may 07 they had not played in the uk for 10 years. Do not want to miss them if that happens again cause in 10 years i will be 33 possibly with responsibilities that will not enable me to see them. would happily give up my thurday evening at glasto and friday morning to see dave matthews Am just interested in whether travelling away from the festival is as hard as travelling to it? fur_q
Also worth pointing out that those tour dates have a somewhat glasto shaped hole in them
mutley8511
they are free on the saturday but that ould mean them playing: Thursday:London Friday: London Saturday:glaston?? Sunday:Hyde park Monday:Wolverhampton I know they are a band that do a lot of back to back gigs but cant see them doing 5 on the trot to be honest

fullfathom5
Why not just travel to Glasto early Friday morning? Camping spots aren't as good, but there's no traffic - I've done it a couple of times.
staggerlee
My friend is leaving on the Friday morning for his Cambridge graduation ceremony and coming back on Friday evening. Do you think he will make it in time for the headliner?
Freewheelin
Work the time backwards I guess - headliners are usually on at 10.00pm, maybe an hour to get from parking up to getting through the gates and down to the stage so 9.00pm. Traffic might not be too bad by Friday night as most people should be on site, so perhaps an hour queueing to get to the car parks so 8.00pm. How long does it take to drive from Cambridge to Shepton Mallet/Glasto on a Friday night - 3-4 hours? So maybe he needs to leave Cambridge by 3 or 4pm? Young Lover
lol, don't want to sound mean, but this plan is nuts. Fine, if it was a one-off gig by the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix, but I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to see Dave Matthews Band again (e.g. at Glastonbury this year most likely!). You're going to spend a lot of time, money and effort unnecessarily spoiling your festival. Ever heard an expression, something to do with having your cake and eating it? Or biting off more than you can chew? But by all means, do it if it makes you happy!
mutley8511
I'm sorry at 33 what responsibilities could you possible have that would mean you can't go to a gig???? Your not gonna go on tour with them???????????????? A gig one evening....................... What what sort of resposibilities do you envisage having??? Prime Minister? I'm sure even then you could afford one night to go to a gig................ Your a silly person................

Icewulf
I wouldn't personally risk it. It's gonna be easy enough getting out - I mean, who else will be leaving on the Thursday?! but you're already gonna have to battle the crowds of people coming in midweek, just to leave and do it all over again when it's even busier on the Friday. WHY?! Seriously. The Dave Matthews band? All this effort to see THEM? As someone has said already, they may be playing Glastonbury anyway... But even besides that, you'll be at f***ing Glastonbury, why would you want to go all that way to see Dave Matthews? That's like having a wine cellar full of £100 bottles of wine in your house and going 40 miles to Asda just to buy one for a fiver... i.e. Crazy. superdry
Why not see them before or after Glasto at a different venue during the tour?
staggerlee
Surely the chance to see Dave Matthews band will arise again. Leaving Glastonbury to see a band just seems ridiculous mate. It's like leaving a play at the theatre to go home and watch Simpsons.

verrymerry
It seems to me the general concensus is "don't do it!" (and I for one agree) buuuuuuut as the question was more of a "is it do-able" then I'd say yes. You will be able to leave and get back in. As to how long that'll take I'm not sure, hopefully you'll not miss too many bands friday morning. Where are you travelling from? Might be worth not going on weds at all and just come on Friday as was suggested somewhere above. You'll miss the buzz but if you have to go all that way just to leave the next (early?) afternoon it's probably not worth it. Also, how will you be travelling: home>glasto, glasto>london, london>glasto, glasto>home. Alternatively see them Monday night in wolverhampton Cheap travel lodge for the night perhaps? mutley8511
Yeah regret is a horrible thing, as the title suggests on the topic i was just wondering if ayone had left before as wold like to know what i would be up against if i did do it. Everyone seems just want to slate me for even thinking about leaving when all i wanted was a bit of practical advice. Wolverhampton wold be a better option if it was not the day that i would be leaving glastonbury...would never make it to the show in time and would probably be dead on my feet if i did. robith
Ignoring all the "Why would you want to leave Glastonbury it's da best place EVA" Yes, you could do it. But I dunno man, it sounds like an awful lot of admin. It would be better to come after than to arrive leave and come back, just from a convience point of view. But hey, I'm lay
webstl
Id go for the Wolves option. We always get back to Leicester by six/ seven at the latest on the monday. And yes, kinda dead on our feet but really dont like coming back to the real world so end up going straight to the pub to "keep it going". I think a gig from my favourite band on the monday would be perfect to keep off the Glastonbury "come down" Id deffo do that rather than leave and come back. Can you not send your tent and some bits with your mates and come early as poss on sat?
