I beg to differ.

They have Neil Young, there is still a good chance he will play Glasto.

Stereophonics are not popular enough to headline anymore

Razorlight are crap

The Ting Tings will play Glasto

I wouldn't be surprised if Pendulum played Glasto

That leaves three decent bands that IOW have that Glasto PROBABLY don't.

Doesn't sound that formidable to me.

All matters of opinion I suppose, but Prodigy, Stereophonics, Basement Jaxx, Razorlight, Neil Young, Pendulum, like em or loathe em all, are still massive acts and would comfortably headline any festival or arena tour.

Like I say, still thin Glasto is #1, but with just old rocker Bruce and comeback for cash Blur confirmed I cant help casting a nervous and envious eye at IOW at the mo.

Me & the Mr's are lucky, we are doing the IOW with the kids ( teenagers ) as they wanted to go for their christmas pressies...But we have been going to Glasto for 5 years and they are completly differant festivals, we are a bit gutted at the IOW line up as this is a one stage fest.

Glast however we would go no matter who was on as it is bigger than the headliners...OK so a majority of the time we end up at either of the main stages...but the IOW festival does not have the vibe of Glasto...and the line up will always be slightly more main stream...but this year oh lord why did we say we would take the kids this year...they really enjoyed being flooded at Pennards in 05... rant over.

But instead of Prodigy, Razorlight, Basement Jaxx, Stereophonics and Pendulum, Glastonbury will have Franz Ferdinand, Doves, Bloc Party, Keane and White Stripes.

Glasto will still have big young popular bands, but they just haven't been announced yet. Plus one of Glastonbury's headliners is still a complete mystery. Unless you are the Prodigy's biggest fan I honestly fail to see how IOW looks better.

I went to Isle of Wight in 2002 and, whilst the line-up was fairly good (big Charlatans fan) I couldn't believe how poor the organisation was. By 6pm the bars had ran out of beer so everyone was forced to drink pouches of dreadful Watermelon vodka alcopops (a bit like Capri sun!)/ Good weekend but quite a hassle to get to and the lack of beer has tainted my view even though I'm sure its got better since.

yeah been to the last two and really enjoyed both of them although i have to admit that last year it was more down to the company i was with than the actual festival itself and we spent most of our time in the campsite. good atmosphere tho and camping beside your car allows you to bring all your home comforts and gives you somewhere safe to keep valuables, just dont expect lots of huge acts...
