Young out, Metallica in Friday night ?

IMO Neil Young is good but not headlining material anyway - maybe Sunday afternoon as IOW is saying young is an exclusive headling act

Metallica now must back in the frame - reasons........

1. Lars said he wanted to play Glastonbury in 2009 in an interview last year

2. Their webite said they are going to be playing festivals around Europe on their off dates this summer

3. Guess what - they are in Europe and have an off weekend over the Glas weekend

4. Will be the best live act ever to take the stage at Glastonbury and I've been going for 20+ years

Now come on everybody.........master, master, master, master of puppets..........

I don't think so, I think an incident happened somewhere in Europe where a metal band played, and some people died, and that's put Michael off ever booking a metal band such as Metallica. That's what Neil said once I think!

Plus i'd imagine Sonisphere is their UK exclusive for this year.

Would love to see it, but very much doubt it will happen, their lined up for a big festival at Knebworth arent they.

Mr Eavis seems dead against this type of act anyway, however as the event has sold out, the hardcore metal heads that caused the problems in Europe arent going to be there, besides its the week after Download so the kids will be broke anyway.

It's not happening, but I'd love it to just for a good excuse to wear my Everton FC / Metallica - The Black album t-shirt. Not that I won't at Glasto anyway.

i saw metallica at reading and then went to trent fm arena, both times they were great, despite the sound being gash at trent.

HOWEVER

they wont get a glasto spot.

Metallica would b awesome! Glasto is open minded enough 4 any genre (hence Jay Z) so why not give it a go.

i wasn't a big fan before i saw the at reading last year. i thought, "this should be ok"

i've got to say, they blew me away, they were the best live band i've ever seen, anyone would have enjoyed it. i couldn't even say what was so good, they were just fantastic

Metallica or any other decent Rock band would be great at Glasto.

So, what would you want? Over-rated indie rock bands such as the Killers, Kings Of Leon or the Artic Monkeys?

How about Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath??

it wont happen due to sonisphere, but metallica should get the opportunity to headline. As well as having the "metal" fans, they appeal to so many people that don't even like that genre of music, plus coming onstage to the song from the good the bad and the ugly is surely the best way to start a show?
