weesteve
Going to try get a bag nice and early ( kind of ) on ebay this year to avoid maximum cost. Which size of bag is suitable to festivals?
pie_and_a_pint
I've got a 55 litre, which takes my clothes, sleeping bag and some food, booze etc, plus Mr P&P has a 35 litre with clothes only, then the tent and the booze and the thermarests go on the sack truck. I'd stick with what you can comfortably manage - do two trips if you need to!
future_shock
Ive got a 70litre which is really comfy. Didn't get it for festivaling but usually use it anyway. Holds way more than I need so usually manage to get extra things like beer etc in it to save carrying in hands. It really depends how much you want to take and what size feels comfortable like already has been said. Maybe worth while going to a hiking shop and trying a few and then searching for them on ebay. r0cky
I've been using a 100litre rucksack for festivals. Although for Glastonbury, which has significantly longer walking distances and an extra day on most festivals, I use holdalls and a B&Q sack truck. irons
I use a 60 litre. Also have a kitbag that goes over my shoulder, they carry everything I need.
Paul ™
Posted in the T forum too steve but incase you miss it I have an 85ltr rucksack but I do tent to take a lot as sometimes am away for a while.. like this year will be away 15 days for Glasto/Blissfields and 11 days for Bestival/Loopallu. If it is just for a Fri-Mon festival then a 70ltr should be plenty to get everything you need, probably your sleeping bag too leaving you to carry a couple crates Edited March 7, 2009 by Paul ™
Kyelo
I have a 90 litre which is packed full. Have my tent, sleeping bag, camping bed, boots and water can strapped to the outside. Take a fold away trolley for the drink which usually consists of 4 or more 24 crates.

irons
That's the size I was looking at. I need to get a bigger rucksack for flying down to Glastonbury, my current one is 35ltr 70ltr sounds about right for taking everything + tent on a flight? harper11
two trips is better than killing yourself and the trolleys/wheel barrows are useless in wet weather

r0cky
Disagree, the B&Q trolley that a lot of people got on here is fine.. it has pneumatic tyres Mine coped admirally at Glasto 2007 getting to the car park
grumpyhack
Yep. I found the B&Q sack truck a godsend in the rain and mud of 2007. Rode high above the mud/water and was effortless. I wrapped a small tarpaulin around everything, and it was waterproof and mud proof. But the clearance was good enough to keep everything out of the standing water and mud pools. Just make sure it has large pneumatic tyres, and it's strong (B&Q rated for ~200kg's or so, I forget the exact figure).

Dark Star
Anyone know where I can get a good quality 80-90 litre rucksack from? My old one is on its last legs and is in need of replacement, £20.00 from Arogs in 2003 and served me well, but I need something a little better, ideally with loads of points to hang extra stuff from like tents. strudders
I have a reggata 100 Litre with a 30 litre day sack that zips on the front. I use it for all the light stuff and breakables and use my trolley for the rest. No issues last year even though I ended up with my daughters ruck sack as well. I looked like a refugee.
