What's the chances of them playing this year?

I see they are at Big Chill but no gigs between that and 31st May.

yup pretty much zero chance.... maybe having to play below the national last year has put them off glasto

Every time there's a new album, the music press claim it's a massive return to form, so I swallow it and buy it, only to find that it's not.

i remember speding the whole day in 94 at the NME stage (other) where i saw oasis, pulp, radiohead & blur and THEN spiritualized headlined

I saw both last year and trust me the National were well worthy of headlining. Easily the best band I saw last year by a long way. Spiritualized were good too mind but I doubt you will see them there this year.

I'm comfy with the latest album but it's not their best work. Still decent though IMO.

i saw spiritualized a few months ago, they weren't very good at all, and the difference between their material and when they covered an old spacemen 3 song was astonishing. I used ti quite like thm, but these days, they're very 'meh'.

well maybe the national were better suited to the piss poor sound system in jp last year.... spiritualized are more used to ear splitting volume, i think my hearing is still affected from their newcastle gig in october

dont really think you can class playing spacemen 3 stuff as doing covers... theres always a fair few spacemen tracks in their sets and out of all the tours they've done i'd rate the a&e tour as one of the best imo

yeah, sorry, 'cover' was sort of the wrong word, but anyway, there was a huge gulf in quality between the spacemen 3 songs and (most of) their own songs. They were OK live, but no more and not as good as the could be/used to be. And I find it really hard to believe that Spiritualized will ever make another really great album

I saw em at Leeds Academy last year , shame about the attendance , it was def not sold out.

Excellent gig , the noise and strobes sent me wappy/happy.

Did not see em last year but saw em headline The Park , back in 2007. they were very beautiful !!!

missed them last year, but saw them at the park stage 2 years ago after arcade fire and blew me away and can still feel the chills. I remember he took forever to come on stage, and i hadn't really heard much of them before, but goes down as my favourite glastonbury performance ever, and i've been going since 97. There was something about the setting, the small crowd intimacy and his voice that lifted me through the mud and the rain and kept me through every chord.
