The band went to a pretty fancy bar after the 1st show. Hetfield sat at the bar by himself while the rest of the band were together. He drank epically by most reports, and given how he is still haunted by what happened to Cliff, and given that it happened in Sweden, and given how members of Metallica are prone to '''''illnesses''''' before shows, word in camp is that Hetfield just didnt want to play, and in fairness, as per the reports was incapable but down to being mortally wrecked rather than food poisoned..

Supposedly he never even went to hospital. He was on his way back to the USA on the day of the cancelled show.
