Sup fools....

Just a question to those of you who know Orbital's music.

Unfortunatly I have not paid much attention to Orbital over the years. I have watched a few live performances and heard a select few songs.

Is their music quite preludey? for example a lot of build up in their songs but never actually banging out a fat bass line? for example "Chime".....is it all like this?

Sorry if this doesnt make sense but I would appreciate some awnsers :D

In my opinion, they are the best dance act in the UK. I absolutely love Prodigy, Chemicals, Underworld and Orbital but after seeing all of them plenty of times theres just something special about Orbital that can't be matched.

Last time I saw them was T in the Park (which was AFTER Glastonbury, they're supposed last gig. IT WAS T IN THE PARK!!!) they clashed with Massive Attack and Orbital blew up the SLAM tent which they were moved to earlier in the day becuase it was a HUGE gig for T. I'll never forget that and I get to see it all again!!

So anyone who hasn't seen Orbital is in for one hell of a treat!!

No worries man, everyones entitled to an opinion, even if I was out by a couple of hours. It was 5 years ago after all and my mind was bending. I just mind Orbital being one of the best festival performances I've seen in about 15 years. Anyway, pity Snow Patrol aren't at Rockness this year to make your weekend if Orbital don't do it for you. Shame that Snow Patrol have to rely on the same 'anthems' to get a crowd going every time anyway, or at least they did two years ago. Doubt they've improved much since.

Would kinda agree with you both now, wouldn't waste my time anymore. At the time however 'Run' was the anthem of the summer, everybody knew every word of every song and it was packed out. Was brilliant.

I used to like Snow Patrol, well that album anyway but through no lack of trying I just don't like Orbital. That was the first time I had even heard anything by them and it was bland in my view. I've seen acts and heard their stuff for the first time at festivels like Wolfmother, Soulwax etc and instantly fell in love with their energy and music, mine and my friends memory of Orbital is 'it went on too long' lol just got really bored.

We both agree its a generation thing though lol most of my dance head friends respect Orbital but don't like them, we are all 19-23ish. Now I have spoken to a couple of my dads friends who like dance music(40+)and they love them. People who were part of the 'acid generation' tend to be their fans lol, anybody who was in their mid teens up from the early 80's. Well thats my theory anyway :)

LOL.....really glad Snow Patrol aint playing. dont think they are suitable for Rockness.

My concern was with Orbital that I would be able to have a good boogie as they seem to be more into mixing preludes etc as opposed to doing that and busting out some nice bass lines/rythms etc. I really want to see them though.

Have to say, slightly off topic but i checked out "Deadmau5" recently think it was "BenchBuddah" that recommended them for Rockness. Really Liking "Deadmau5" :ph34r: "Not Exactly" is banging!
