Constant Negativity

i and others here can't help but notice the same handful of people constantly making negative comments regarding the line up despite it's rather eclectic and diverse nature so far.

you have the likes of pendulum and the prodigy playing and then going through to the likes of Neil Young and for me i love that kind of diversity.

these very same people also bemoaned the addition of the big top last year as it in their eyes prevents them perhaps seeing and liking and act they would otherwise avoid, now to me these two gripes reek of hypocrisy and contradict each other as the very acts they are moaning about (neil young for example) may well be the very act they speak of in regards to their complaints over the big top.

I'm seriously and honestly not having a pop some people are just built this way and seemingly always surround themselves with negativity and that's there god given right to do so it's just i cannot help but wonder who if anyone it is they would like to see, who would be their preferred headline acts and who would they like to see lower down on the bill.

so enough of the negativity and lets cheer up a little shall we seeing as it's the weekend an post your dream IOW line up, I'm gonna give mine a bit of thought and post mine soon. lets keep it simple and have 7 acts for each day with 2 of those being headline acts.

please don't take this the wrong way you guys know who you are and I've not named names and I'm being civil and just curious to get to know you better without being confrontational so please don't get out of your pram over this like you have the tendency of doing.

You can say my name you know I don't care.

but I am not be negative, I just don't care for NY and The pixies music and I am stating my opinion, the rest of the line up is great cant wait to see the phonics and razorlight aswell 3 out of the 4 on friday.

end of.

PS

And dont put in the same boat as the people that moaned about the big top because I was not one of them.

PS

I know people aren't going to agree on it, but to me the one stage set-up was what allowed you to 'discover newer bands that you would never think of watching'. If they were on the main stage in an early slot then they'd be seen by a decent number of people. Put them in the 'big top' when a well known act is on the main stage then those same people (including myself) won't see them.

I reckon most folk who have moaned have done so because Friday and Saturday headliners have both played before. If they'd been someone different Neil Young wouldnt have recieved 90% of the stick he has done.

Personally im not to bothered. Line up is really varied which is nice and Pixies are a very good addition. Im not a fan of em but to have their only UK festival apperance this summer can only be a good thing.

Roll on June!!

Yeah i kind of agree a bit there with Kris as i was disappointed to see the headliners for friday and saturday being repeated so soon- especially as i can't bear the Prodigy. It was inevitable they would have to start repeating at some point though. I've not really got issues with NY - I have never seen him live so cannot comment on what he is like, but the overall line up so far is disappointing for me personally. Getting a Pixies exclusive is good though- never seen them and although i don't know a great deal of their stuff I'm looking forward to seeing someone completely new (as in new for me)

If people want to moan though- just let them, you can't please all the people all the time. I know we'll have a good time no matter what, but forums are place for people to discuss their views whether good or bad, right or wrong- they are opinions which we are all entitled to have

my god a go to all the effort of a really long winded initial post in order to try and cover all the bases yet people just skip over things i said and then point them back out to me in their own posts, I've never once implied people have no right to moan it's just some abuse that right it seems :P

but i can totally see where you're coming from line up wise with the recently played and repeated acts which for me makes the new addition of the big top last year all the more important.

and I'm the same as you in regards to bands I'm not too up on and wanting to check them out live, hell i even like checking out bands i don't like live if they have a good reputation for live performance, as tan artists recorded work and live performance of said work can be two totally different things.

one of the things i love about festivals is getting the chance to perhaps have my views of an act changed by seeing them live and them being outstanding.

so dream line ups anyone?
