How far have you travelled to see a band

Las Vegas last September to see the Foo Fighters.

Basically we were planning on booking Vegas for later in the year but saw the Foos had announced a gig at the Hard Rock and got the tickets then sorted out pulling everything forward. I'd had to miss the Foos at Wembley in June for exams so was desperate to see them, especially as they were going on a few year break after those gigs.

We booked a few days in San Fransisco for the trip as it was easier to travel there, then get internal flights to Vegas so I started checking out what bands were on at different dates. (We missed the Kings of Leon in Vegas by a week).

Then found out Vampire Weekend were on the day we were in San Fran. I wasn't overly keen about this as we'd already seen them at Glastonbury and had tickets to see them in Liverpool in November, so with only 1album, 3shows may have been a bit of overkill.

Further research showed that it was actually the Treasure Island Music Festival in which The Racontuers were also headlining. Bargain! B)

New York City, Madison Square Garden David Bowie s 50th Birthday celebration in 97

Has to be the gig of my life, i cant imagine anything like it again

I was dumbstruck at the other performers who came on as guests

Sonic Youth Lou Reed Robert Smith Frank Black Billy Corgan The Foofighters, ive probably missed some off the list , but anyhoos, they are the ones i can remember and they all came on and did duets/played along with Bowie and his band during the show

Was one of the best nights of my life ever.

That Bowie gig probably wins for best gig!

Last year I saw Counting Crows in Brussels... though that was a stop off before Werchter because the girlfriend wanted to go.

Otherwise, the best and longest, Tom Waits in Paris last year, or Nick Cave in Dublin last year  Both f**king epic.

been to Amsterdam to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2004 but regularly went to Amsterdam back then anyways and the gig just so happened to fall on dates i was already going to be in the city.

Last year i specifically went to spandau zitadelle in Berlin to see Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and Masters of Reality all on the same bill the Zitadelle is a 15th century Citadel in the middle of a lake how could you not go to such a gig especially when all it cost for tickets, travel and accommodation was £78!

i will always look and see if there are any bands i love playing in cities i have not been too of a weekend and if they are I'll look into going for the weekend and catching the gig and checking out the city.
