ThomThomDrum
Erm...I disagree wth this, Super Furry Animals ARE the greatest band in the world
russycarps
I'd agree, but I have found people who claim to dislike The Beatles. I personally think they are in denial and just trying to be contrary, but people are strange.
sifi
Simon and Garfunkel. Oh - and whilst I love the Beatles, I know people who dislike the Beatles because they are the Beatles and dislike the way they are overhyped.
Filthy
the beatles are so diverse everyone will like at least a handful of their songs. Noone can dislike their entire back catalogue. It is physically impossible. Surely? The people who say they dont like them clearly have only listened to a fraction of their stuff I will cling onto the hope that this is the case otherwise humanity is indeed doomed. ThomThomDrum
I think, certainly from personal experience, stubborness is a factor too. I find it hard to backtrack once I've declared an opinion on a band. Edited March 17, 2009 by ThomThomDrum
sifi
The second half of Abbey Road should be enough to end any discussion on whether or not the Beatles are brilliant or not. There are melodies on there which allowed Paul McCartney to buy half of Sussex and a good part of Hampshire too.
alframsey
Oh and I don't like Elbow for the record, one of the dullest bands I have seen live.

b26354
That's only because I never saw them mentioned up till now. Awful, awful band. Saw them at Witnness in 2003, and it was one of the most boring things I've ever seen at any festival from any act. In the middle of "Man don't give a f**k" they looped a drumbeat, f**ked off for what felt like 30 minutes and must've been damn near 10 for a fag break while we were listening to utter utter shit coming from an empty stage. They then, and I don't know how they thought of doing this, came back dressed as furry animals to finish the song. What innovative, funny, creative guys. Of course, half the crowd had buggered off by then. Even my mate who's a huge fan of theirs (and the only reason we stayed) had to admit they completely took the piss. Tossers. podge52
Marley does nothing for me, one or two songs aside, and going back to the first post, Faithless, imo are f******* terrible. Elbow can do one, too. Madness, good shout though, you mgiht be on to somethign there. I don't know if it's a nostalgia thing though... b26354
Errr.. But we're talking about them playing Glastonbury. Which is Live. Not an album. Any yeah I've heard bits and pieces of their albums. Never impressed in the slightest.

incident
My point is that i wouldn't pass complete judgement on a band based on a single live performance that you've seen...sounds like you don't like the bands work anyway so unlikely that you'd like them live.Have you listened to their album rings around the world as a matter of interest?
russycarps
I know the (irritating) title track, and I've heard other stuff from the album but I doubt I've heard the album played complete and straight through if that's what you're asking and I've got absolutely no desire to. I don't see that I should have to defend disliking a band. Especially the band who are responsible for the most boring thing I've seen at any festival anywhere.
