okay one i one 10 year old who listens to "white light white heat" he morning

two i think your taste is very good but your critical analysis of me is very weak

three you do make a point! but i love music from the 50s (elvis, buddy holly) the 60s (beatles, kinks, VU), the 70s (bowie, t-rex)

80s (smiths, cure, jam) 90s (oasis, blue, suede) and the 00s (strokes, libertines, arctic monkeys)

now i realise that for the "clever music buff" oasis are probably the worst, most incosistent band ive mentioned! but i loved em because i grew up at a time when every1 loved em!

Not trying to be difficult, but the point is that you didnt.

Not by older peoples reckoning anyway.

Yes there is still a big Oasis following but the real hype had died down whilst you were still very young.

Its ok to like them, but I think you missed their best, which is unlucky for you.

you lot are a bunch of boring f**king cynics.. i bet if they announced the rolling stones you'd complain cos there too old

you dont go to festivals to f**king review every band on stage, you go to just listen to the music and have a good time!

you've all obv forgotten that in your quest to diss oasis, obv the saying people are jealous of success applies strongly here!

tried to read all the thread but it got a little OTT in parts, regardless:

Gaaz, you've got great taste, argue your corner well and are clearly knowledgeable - fair play. Some of the others do a great job too so I'm gonna stay out of those battles.

Just wanted to interject on the "biggest band on earth" comment, always going to be controversial (like arguing who is a "big club" when talking football.)

Suffice to say, in my opinion Iron Maiden are much bigger than Oasis globally, will have sold more records and are, as I understand it, the biggest touring band in the world (in that they have played to more people than anyone else). Maiden however would never be booked for V so I'm with the Oasis fans here, I'm no longer a fan of Oasis by the way, they are F**king huge, we should be happy that V have booked them.

Personally I expected all the vitriol to be directed at the booking of the Killers for the second time in 3 years

Thanks dude!

You have to be sensible about these things. I'm going to Glastonbury, now disregarding the whole "it's not about the music" thing, I wouldn't be jumping out of my chair at the booking of Springsteen BUT - He's huge, someone I would never go pay out see on his own tour and I wll be watching him. Same went for Jay Zizzle last year.

There'll be plenty going on elsewhere, I think the unsavory element that has been spoken of may well go to the Oasis/Kasabian/Enemy shows and you know what, if you don't like it there are loads of other festivals out there.

Same as Radiohead fans! I love Oasis early stuff and can admit they've gradually gone down hill - with the exception of the odd great 'single'

Big bands create a fanbase from their early work and often cant match this in later releases, but by this time they will have a huge following who will buy new albums regardless and buy tickets to see the older classics.

Oasis and Radiohead both fall into this cateogory. I love Dig Out Your Soul but in all honesty compared to the first 3 albums its very very average.

Love Oasis and am going to V, benicassim and wembley to see them but I agree with the above post about "clinging to the past"

Now for Radiohead fans to do the same...

You can't really compare Radiohead to Oasis, Radiohead are still admired hugely artistically, they've constantly developed their sound and have always been interesting, you never know what you're going to get with one of their records, while with Oasis, as Noel Gallagher said once himself 'Its the same old pub rock bollocks'.

Their music may not be as commercially accessible now but its still excellent, their last album was truly immense, there's some truly beautiful records on there.

Saying that The Bends is by far my favourite album of theirs
