Mr Ploppy
Well I am one of those people that would go to Glasto no matter what the lineup - but I do think they are leaving it late this year to announce confirmations. Glastonbury had part of my payment last year - then they had the rest recently - both alot earlier than they usually ask for payment. Considering that - surely they should be releasing more of the confirmations by now. I know we got the Pyramid headliners - but as they have had their payments earlier and considering other festivals give a lineup pre-sale, I do think we should know more by now. Leeds & Reading goes on sale in 2 weeks and they announce the lineup before the tickets sales - yet we have to wait. Yeah, I am all for surprises but am not a fan of knowing virtually nothing. I know all this has been discussed in recent years and as I said - I would go anyway. But considering the early payments to GFL this year I would like to see more confirmations soon and them securing bands as 'V' have announced bands, Isle Of Wight have announced more than just headliners and finally Leeds & Reading full line-up will be known in 2 weeks. Hope I explained all that properly. I am not moaning about the way Glasto announces its line-up, just that this year I handed over my hard earned cash alot earlier - so would appreciate knowing some more confirmations earlier. Cheers. Amlo4ka
I don't think its a case of them f*****g us over, they are doing their best. DO NOT QUESTION THE ESTABLISHMENT
darrenbha
I think its fine the way it is. For many years now Glasto has always revealed the line up officially early june and its good that way
Sam Crawley
Maybe we could all part pay as much of the ticket as we want whenever we want, but Glasto could agree to release chunks of line-up as we reach targets, kinda like those fundraising thermometers for replacing the local church roof! Pay 5 quid : Scouting for Girls, Kaiser Chiefs, Jay-Z, and a few others gets released Pay 100 quid : Elbow, Fleet Foxes, Coldplay and White Stripes and three quarters of line-up out All attendees pay full 175 : Faithless, Smiths, Orbital, BB King, Radiohead announced as headliners!!! llcoolphil
No. They've announced too many already. And anyone who self confirms should not be allowed to play either
WS_Jack_III
i personally think they should because it gives you some good time to get into the mood for what you are going to see but hey guess i will be waiting till the end of may
pezzypops
i'm sure i've seen a thread like this somewhere before
Matt 100
Think the only way they would of released the line-up was if the fest didnt sell out, now that it has think we r just goin to have to sit & wait. I just want a few more big names to be released, Iam dying to know who the big dance act is goin to be this year
russycarps
it's brilliant not knowing who's playing. Keeps the excitement levels ticking over nicely. People moaning about not knowing the lineup are just a sad reflection of todays "must have everything NOW" culture. It's the same reason why people are in massive debt, as they must have the new piece of electronic frippery, or new item of trendy clothing NOW. No one saves up for anything anymore. Just learn to be less spoilt and more patient.
metalupyourass
I am going to my first glasto, an i think that they should release more of the line up, even though im going no matter what i just want to know some more bands rather than finding out rumours which are not necessarily true. Plus i want to download some music of bands who are playing.
darrenbha
By the time the official announcement is made you normally have a fair idea from this site
glastofreak
Why don't I know what I am going to get for Christmas, I've been good all year. Dam that kind old man with the funny beard.
austrian_zeppelin
this is one of the great things about glastonbury. before my first one i was a bit concerned not knowing who is playing, but my mates who have been loads before reassured me to not worry. I stopped worrying and when in early June the lineup got released it felt like christmas has come early. the first glasto experience was awesome and even if the lineup would have been average i would have had a great time. So no, they should keep everything quiet until really close to the time. People who just go for who's playing on the pyramid stage probably miss out on too many of the other groovy things happening elsewhere onsite anyway, and the rest are safe in the knowledge that whatever the lineup there will always be enough great acts (expected or unexpected) that justify them going
Wm.!
You know what would be a great idea? Not announce or confirm anything at all. No time-table, nor a program when the fest starts, no announcements when bands get on and everybody who self-announces gets disqualified. See what happens. One big surprise. It would be a wise lesson and a grand experience for all control-freaks, like myself ...
whisty
It's better not knowing, when you do know all you'll do is fret over who you'd like to see more than some other band whose playing at the same time. Best thing is just wandering around not worrying who's playing, watch something, don't like it, walk 3 minutes further and watch something else
joelovesleeds!
I can see both sides of the argument, that's where I think Reading and V have got it right in announcing a handful of bands at a time- you can look forward to those bands but still have the excitement of waiting for more announcements
MJ2000`
Not overly fussed whether the line up is announced, once it is muddy and slow to walk everywhere any kind of plan to see all that you want goes out of the window anyways, unless you want to stay sitting at just the main stages, but that seems a waste and you may as well just go to V or Reading.. The Badger Bites Back
It doesn't really matter who plays, but it does give you something to look forward to................ Its not like anyone was waiting for the line up before getting tickets............... ROLF ROLF ROLF
MJ2000`
well I suppose the anticipation and the rumour mill is rather exciting.... woo
The Badger Bites Back
Exactly................. Who's playing? Who's not? shiveringsky
But the suspenders are killing me! At the moment, going by the rumours list, Im looking at a very low-key Glastonbury bands-wise. Which is absoultely fine by me. More time to bask in the atmosphere and goodness. Still, the line-up for Oxegen is stellar and while I will never set foot at that horrible little place again, I'm very much looking forward to knowing who we've got for our amusement.
