Yeah Uni, college etc has become the thing to do these days. Don't blame anyone myself like, I'd rather have the three years in Uni then straight into a job it's not as if it's costing the taxpayer much now anyway.

You have to remember who has educated this "completely depressing" generation.

I would vote for Cameron, I'm 21.

For one reason, and one reason only... I've never heard anyone talk to people my age the way he has, i.e trying to be on our level.

Your post has really pissed me off just so you know.

to add to the discussion about youth and politics, the reason a lot of young people aren't as interested in politics as they used to be is because most don't have the responsibility they used to.

i mean, i obviously couldn't comment as i am fairly young myself, but my parents and my friends' parents seemed to go straight into work after school, therefore having responsibility and knowing their rights. a lot of young people don't have to go into a full time job after school anymore for whatever reason, therefore politics doesn't really affect them.

Crikey, how depressing that is.

Forget about his policies (not that he has any anyway!), just so long as he's "down with the kids" you will vote for him??

Absolutely staggering. I pray you are not representative of your generation - but I fear you are.

I tend to disagree, I do however see why people may presume this. The reason I disagree is purely through my personal expiriences. I know a lot of young people who are very up, and interested in politics. However I concede that there aresome who when asked which party Gordon Brown belongs to reply, "Who's Gordon Brown?"!

You don't seem to understand RussyCarps, I wouldn't actually vote, that is because I am willing to admit I DONT know enough about politics and policies to warrant making a choice. What I am saying is that if forced to vote, the only person who has ever reached out to our age group is Cameron.

Look at it like this, if you would. If Glastonbury were to pick an exclusively older generation lineup, then I would not attend in all likelihood, so instead I would simply pick another festival, one that wants my attendance, and advertises such desire to have young uns there, by letting me know they have some younger generation bands playing.

This relates because if I want to vote now, would I look at Gordon Brown, who has never attempted to speak to people of my age, other than the Army lads, or would I pick to look elsewhere, and find someone who actually seems keen (even if he isn't) on helping the younger generation?

I vote for who I think will do the best job in running the country and whose ideals most match my own. You seem to be wrapped up in your specific age group. Take a step back and see what the politicians are doing for the countery as a whole. There is more to life than just YOU and YOUR age group.

See this now goes back to my point that the younger generation being totally self absorbed.

I second that.

We have no role models in politics to follow. So why should we give a f**k about the older generation, all they do is slate us anyhow for airing our opinions, whether they're right or wrong.

This goes back to my old point that politicians are absorbed in attracting the older vote, not the younger one. Therefore younger people have no one to look at and think yeah he looks like he cares about our future, rather than making more money for Universities etc.

Other than Obama, he cares about the young and the old from what we hear.

Cameron will care about the young, the old, the impoverished, the unemployed, the sick and the dying, the healthcare system, university fees, the state of the planet etc.........in fact he will care about anything and everything - until he gets elected that is. Then you'll see the true nature of Tory politics.

The glory of politics, and something the Leftfield encouraged, why don't we as a collective do our own thing, unofficial and all, wherever in the site on the things that concern us most

wow this is amazing to read. I find you guys attitude really interesting, and deeply depressing.

Dont you care about others at all? Do you not want to vote for someone who will try to make the world a better place? You sound like you will vote for anyone who promises free xboxes to the under 21s.

In reference to the first point in regards to Glastonbury disregarding politics. I think as big business continues to get a hold on Glasto we are only going to see more of this. It may come to a point were Eavis needs to pull the companies in so as to keep this festival going. It's a damn shame. Other than the expense of food and drink, the ethos and feeling of Glastonbury is so brilliantly socialist. In many ways it's my idea of a socialist utopia and it will be a sad day when the last remnant of this has gone. Something that I feel is inevitable unfortunately.
