They're CLEARLY playing then aren't they hahaha

Theres no cryptic hints there, and its just almost certain anyway, a band of that style and w.e with something to promote and playing the festivals will almost 100% get a slot at Glasto.

He has similar stage presence to the lad from The Pigeon Detectives, like hes read a "Wacky Frontman for Dummies" Book.

I've never understood why someone would like a band simply because they're from the same neck of the woods. It's all a bit too provincial, as far as I'm concerned.

I think he's the best front man around at the moment, well him and Eddie Argos!

Hopefully they'll be there, I love the first album and think the second is very good. Haven't heard the third yet.

Edited: to add word best, didn't make much sense before!

I do love Maximo Park... for many reasons.

Saw them at Glasto in '07, and immediately after the gig, met a trio of incredibly nice people in the crowd, who were kind enough to let me hang around with them for the rest of the night, where we got up to all sorts of merry japes.

Liam, Emily and Paul, I think their names were. If you're reading, drop me a line.

Of course, my recollections of the evening may be skewed, as I was extraordinarily off my face at the time. :)

Nevertheless... Maximo Park... bring it on.

I've got it all crossed. B)

This will be the icing on the cake for me if they do play, I've seen them live umpteen times but not at a festival. From what I've gathered, after this year they'll be taking a break anyway; Duncan Lloyd has two kids now and wants some time with them, so if you want to see them this is the time.

As for their local popularity, yeah they sell out twice over because a) they're very good, and :) they're local and reference lots of local stuff.

As for Paul Smith, he's really grown in confidence since their early days, each time I seen them he's improved his act, plus I've had the chance to meet him and I can say that his persona is not forced.... well, that's my impression anyway!

They're ok, a few good tunes but some real MOR stuff as well. Always good live though

Anyone heard the new album yet? Comparable to first or second albums?

I think they'll be a welcome addition. Looking forward to seeing them again.

Just out of interest how have so many people heard the new album yet?

It takes a few listens to get used to, and it doesn't have the obvious singles of the first two, but it is still really good. I've grown to love every song on the album, but that being said with the exception of "Acrobat" there isn't a Maximo Park song that I haven't loved. I'm a bit of a fanatic. Of the new stuff, I especially like "Roller Disco Dreams" and "In Another World."

I love Acrobat! I love the fact it is so different from everything else on that album. Not sure it would be good live cos their stuff is so high energy.

Can't wait to listen to their new stuff.

Saw them at the Melkweg in Amsterdam a couple of years ago. Amazing venue staggeringly brilliant gig & to top it all met Paul before the gig on the way in. Such a lovely guy, didn't mind two strangers shouting out Paul! He just stopped for a chat and went back on his merry way. Bless!

And to beat another dead horse...I've just listened to Acrobat and I've figured out what it is I don't like about it. I have no problem with the spoken word verses, it's just the annoying "I'm an not an acrobat..." part I can't stand.
