The Kooks would be scoustastic, nice festival band. Also The Zutons were good last time I saw them at V so they could easily fit the bill.

I was thinking when I heard Spandau Ballet had reformed that they might do a festival, nostalgia or just a wad of cash making them bury the hatchet? Even more animosity than Copeland and Sting in their break-up.

I was also wondering if The Human League or Eddie Reader might not take a spin at V, Reader did Hard Rock Calling a bit ago and went down quite well and Human League certainly have the electro-cred of the 80s.

Eddie Reader would be excellent.

Honestly, I think that there are folks on here who would book a better festival than the V people sometimes. People don't want to be deluged with bland, radio friendly dross in the afternoons, looking back at past line-ups V seemed to grasp this yet in recent years they seem to have let it go. I'm astonished that the festival that once offered Placebo, Spooks, Sonic Youth, Robert Plant et al now offer up the likes of Pink, The Saturdays, Taylor Swift and Girls Aloud.

Hell, looking back they even had Mull Historical Society, The Saw Doctors and Elvis Costello.

Perhaps I'm just being grumpy and old but I cannot help feeling I missed V when it was at it's best

Edited to add that I also missed Killing Joke, The Pixies, Hooverphonic, DJ Shadow and Sigu Ros in the early days.

NewUnion by modern standards Pink is supposed to be edgy borderline punk, not exactly The Sex Pistols but a bit edgier than the chart dominant dross of Rhianna and all the dance monkeys. Granted each to their own but you can't beat a mega riff. Thing is V has to be something for everyone these days as Download and Reading / Leeds bring all the big rockers and Glasto has everything. V has to get as many different friendly acts in as possible as its not got the reputation to fall back on. Still it does often chuck up some great bands (Foo Fighters, The Verve).

I reckon if the people off here did V we would have a week long festival with half day to recover... oh and we'd all be happy as it would have every band possible. I'm lucky as I have eclectic tastes spanning all the years (beyond my age) because of my interest in musical instruments - I love bands as diverse as Buddy Holly and Metallica.

Bit surprised Plant & Krauss aren't doing a tour of their album / couple of festivals off the back of it.

She can be on her own sets, very funny too if a little like Eddie Izzard when she's dancing - which is scary as I quite like her  - she's the 2000 version of Joan Jett or Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes).

If you want to cure bands like The Saturdays turning up book AC/DC, Angus would scare the sh*te out of them, or go the whole hog and get Slipknot, it would be like a remake of Halloween when Mick Thomson walked out and Girls Aloud rapidly fled the stage.

You have to realise some of the people in front of me last year walked off on The Stranglers only to jump up and dance when Girls Aloud kicked up - seriously iconic punk rock band who can manage to drink and play no problem or Cheryl Cole swaying her hips while lip synching? If I'm there for the music I know what I'd choose - although they did surprise me by not being as dire as I thought.

Other people tell me The Streets and Kate Nash are genius, I just think its Chaz & Dave without a decent backing track! Then again I was spoiled with Nirvana growing up and have heard recordings of the genius of Hendrix.

I've got it, something that would give the people what they want and be entertaining to all, Simply Red - stick Mick Hucknall on stage and me 300m away with a 7.62 rifle... everybody's happy. Does anyone know how he can have a greatest hits album?
