sifi
I know a little though it isn't an academic persuit of mine. Rock and metal did originally have it's roots in blues as well as bluegrass, country and whatnot. As for my above comment, it's been taken out of context, I typed it in reference to the typical chav who doesn't know who Churchill or Shakespeare were. Though obviously Glasto goers are nothing like this, you can't really deny that a lot of people who like the genre are somewhat near this stereotype to an extent anyway. The Nal
Or in fact if you like Amon Amarth, you don't know much about music full stop. It's not even good metal ffs.

robith
Rap music is an eyesore for ones ears so Kanye would get an amusing fail image too.

tylerdurden
your not much of an occultist to declare it on an internet forum are you. how annoying. you like heavy metal and final fantasy and know some bubblegum run of the mill facts about some of the plastic watered down "magic" and "mythology" these bands and games claim to be entrenched in. shut up. thats my sweeping statement for the day

sifi
Also, metal? In a Glasto forum. Surely you can be banned for that? Edited March 23, 2009 by sifimaster
The Nal
It's not good metal. Well, I didn't rate it when I watched them anyhow.

Squall Moogle
You're still making the claim the reason rap music is so popular within the social demographic you mention is because they don't know their history. How the hell did you draw that conclusion??

pedmills
Whether or not you like hip-hop or Kanye West as a person, you've got to agree he would be a very good booking as an other stage headliner. He has many crowd pleasing hits and probably puts on a very good visual show. Plus he is a huge international star and gives some variety to the (probable) 5 rock acts headlining the pyramid and other stages.
Pauljoanss
For me, Rap sounds like nursury rhymes with an added beat and some suspect language. The defenders of Rap often talk about meaningful lyrics (if you can decipher them), ok that may be true in a few cases, but that still does not excuse the nursury rhyme "sing song" style of delivery. What about meaningful lyrics with a good tune as well as a good beat. Oh yes, and why do rappers like to call themselves funny names, can any one explain, it all seems very childish. Have I gone too far. Looking forward to Neil Young, now there are some good lyrics "When the aimless blade of science, slashed the pearly gates"
