Joe Strummers stone? If she was a Clash fan that might be emotive. The climbing wall? You could both climb to the top and ask her there? The Circus? the Mighty Gareth would let you get on stage and make a formal announcement in between acts.

In front of the cinema screen if they played her fave film? Or one of my fave spots under the tree in the pyramid field.

As for rings the stall often shift about from year to year but the main market drag (by the cider bus) always has jewelry stalls, just go out for a wander on your own on the Thursday and take a ring that she doesn't wear with you to get the size.

I love this thread!

If you want it to be a total suprise and be totally unexpected, I recommend the long drops. Make sure you get ones next door to each other and you only have one packet off tissues (not standard bog roll) between you. When she inevetebly asks for the tissues, pass them over but make sure you've prepared by writing 'Will you marry me?' on the first one that will be removed from the packet. This will save time and effort as you will be doing it at the same time as partaking in one of the essential parts of your day leaving you more time to explore the festival. 2 Birds, one Stone. Hope this helps ;)

EDIT: Ah Mr Bizzare beat me to it!

Good Evening Folks.

As the topic suggests, I have decided to propose to my other half at this years festival.

What I am looking for is some suggestions on locations and ways in which to do this.

We have been to Glastonbury in previous years, and this is a hugely special place to both of us.

However I do not know all of the special places around the site.

I have searched around efestivals and found a few threads on this topic but not a great deal of information within them.

My initial thoughts are at sunrise at the stone circle, or potentially walk up there around midday when it will be quieter and more secluded.

Do any of you guys have any other suggestions?

I would also appreciate some pointers towards any regular stalls there that sell jewellery as I plan to buy a token ring there to present her with in leiu of taking an expensive ring to the festival that I would hate to loose or have stolen.

So I open the floor to all of your experiences and suggestions to help me ask the love of my life to be my Wife.

P.S - I am an existing member here, but have registered with a new identity as there is a fair chance the other half will log on to this site with my standard log in, forgive me if i dont mention my other user name.

Or join us for the pre festival err. . . festivities for the Summer Solstice at Avebury stone circle, and do it just as the sun rises on the the longest day of the year. It could also become an aniversary ritual and you'd be able to celebrate at the same time every year ;)

Can't remember from last year, but is the LOVE statue still there? If so you could do it there.

Or last year I went to the pyjama party in Shangri-La. If it's there this year get in there in your pj's and do it on their big beds (propose that is!!)

Or try to put an ad in the free newspaper we get every day at Glasto - The Guardian one I think.

Or if you have the money, pay a plane to fly over Glasto with a banner.

Or make a big sign in secret, then put it up somewhere where she will spot it (e.g. on the gates on the way in).

I really like the idea that Jason447 suggested of having it printed in the newspaper, simple but very effective and she can keep the copy of the paper for memories.

I've never been into romantic proposals, my mum and dads engagement was the best, he took a bracelet back to the jewelers and could only get store credit, so thought f**k it and bought an engagement ring. Been married for about 28 years now  I've always wanted something like that. Not romantically planned.

Wow sorry for going on!! Good luck! Whichever way you do it I'm sure she will be over to moon to be Mrs BIG question @ glasto :P

How funny would it be if she logged in on your name and left a suggestion!!

I'd also say - go with the flow, with a backup plan of sunrise Monday morning if you haven't found the right time beforehand. I can imagine if you're at some gig she's loving and you're in the middle of an incredible song.. These are the moments when you're most buzzing at Glasto, right? Down on one knee.. How can she possibly refuse? Good luck! Now, someone find me a woman that I can propose to this summer!!!

You could make a giant flag with the big question on it! You might even get your proposal on TV! But i think even the romance wouldn't stop the flag haters, so my favourite idea is to have it in the Q daily and bring her attention to it when you are somewhere special. Love this thread! So romantic!!
