Stop moaning and just enjoy!

This is going to be my 9th Leeds festival I can't wait, been to over 20 festivals since I was 16 over the past 9 years and Leeds always has the best atmosphere, regardless of strenghth of line up.

I've searched all over this place for the original post stating that the now three commonly believed headliners (AT, KoL & The Head)are playing. I just want to know why everyone is taking this as gold that they are playing??

Over the years Mean Fiddler or whatever there known as now always seem to throw up some surprises, both in terms of mid day slots and the big guns up top. Everyone seems to be moaning about the lack of heavier music, but I can't understand how on earth anyone knows who's playing!!

Please explain?

It's my right as an Englishman to moan, queue, and moan about queueing. Whilst this has nothing to do with queues, I do intend to moan. Arctic Monkeys are a pop band who have no more business at the festival than Take Than and Kings of Leon are a dull band riding on the success of one/two songs and having them headline is the equivalent of putting Nickelback as headliners because "Rock Star" was popular.

Ahhhh I love the smell of wind-ups in the morning, now who's gonna bite? Anyone? ;)

Kings of Leon were second from top in 07 despite the fact their latest album had not been released. Now they've released a best selling and incredibly critically acclaimed album (Top ten, and no1, in many Best Album lists) I think it only makes sense for them to move one place up in the bill.

I was going to reply sarcastically but I'm just in awe of that.

All I'll add is what I've said 100 times in my 300 odd posts. I've got no problem with any of the bands. I've got no problem with any of the bands headlining. But put them all together and it's a weak combination, no matter what the merits of each individual one.

My opinion is that the reason last year's headliners were so exciting were:

1. the fact that Rage hadn't played over here in donkey's years, and

2. everyone was excited about at least one headliner,* and there was nothing wrong with the fact that few liked all three.

I'm more open minded about Radiohead (seriously, love them live), and the Arctic Monkeys (or at least their older stuff) than a lot of the moaners on here, and I'm not denying that KoL are worthy of a headline slot. I just don't see as wide a range of people being excited at the headliners as previous years. The diversity is what makes reading great, and if there isn't a metal listening contingent at reading this year, the atmosphere will be that much poorer for it.

I'm not suggesting that the headliners mean there won't be diversity on the bill, but in my opinion it's not a good start on that front.

EDIT: *if you count MSP as well, but I don't see Slayer headlining the NME...

To all those who dislike what we have rumored at the moment, we barely have anything yet! Odds are when more bands are confirmed there'll be something for everyone, and if not there's always the comedy tent/drunken campsite antics. If that still doesn't sound good enough for you then try another festival. The European ones are looking mighty fine to me

Oh great another thread where we have the old arguement of:

- I don't like the bands (or I just think they are weak)

- Stop moaning and if you don't like the bands don't go.

Why shouldn't people complain if they don't like the line up - This is an internet forum and is meant to be used to give opinions so if people want to complain let them complain - if you don't like their arguments don't read them.

I am of the opinion that it is a weak lineup so far (that is relevant to my musical tastes and nobady is obliged to agree or disagree) but I am sure there will still be loads of stuff I like and I will still be going and having a great time.

BRING IT ON!!

Be creative.

If something's been strongly rumoured (anywhere) and appeals to their tastes, tell them as much. Not your fault if other, allegedly reputable sites have fed you rubbish. I mean, the hard part is getting them to buy their tickets. Once they have them, you've got loads of time to persuade them to hang onto them, that better announcements are to come etc etc.
