I'm glad i spent the extra money i was going to use for a Leeds Ticket on upgrading my Download ticket to RIP :D

How some of these festivals, in particular L/R & Sonisphere, can justify their pricing is beyond me.

Yeah i've been to Reading last 3 years, and this years lineup has about 3 bands i'd wanna see and haven't at previous fests (Radiohead, Prodigy and Deftones), so definatly going to pastures new. Though I knew that anyways after the rioting and shit on the sunday last year.

So yeah, Download or some euro fest for me!

hahaha, i can't believe you have top pay £10 for the privelige of getting in on wednesday! thats appalling! no doubt £10 booking fee like DL, plus £5 postage, so Metaldave must be right, about two ton a ticket! that's f**king scandalous.

Who lets these children out to "riot" anyway?

As far as I am aware, the "riots" started as people messing about and it all got a little out of hand and they ended up setting fire to the toilets and stuff. Eww!! But over the years this ritual has become a planned and orchestrated event. It's just not rebellious anymore kids!! It's confirmist!!

And oh pooooo. Slipknot and Prodigy clash? Evilness. Mind you, I'm going to see Prodigy next so all works out.

B x

I went by train last year just for the Sunday. And it actually worked out cheaper than driving by the time I had paid petrol and parking. And I could have a drink what was a bonus.Had to leave Metallica a bit early only downfall.

They will be charging for the boat ride next.

Out of interest is anyone on here going to Download and Reading, or even just Reading and prefers heavier music? If so do you fancy joining up with our camp to try and limit the ammount of troublemakers as neighbours? Where we usually camp goes untouched by the riots and I'd like to keep it that way!

that's weird coz i went to reading last year for the first time (usually do leeds), got there at 7pm on the thursday and easily camped in orange so the walk wasn't that far at all! i hate the way they are capitalising on their own popularity in such a blatant manner.. grr..

I think this year's L/R line-up pretty much sums up their feelings towards metal at the festival now that Sonisphere has come along and now that Bloodstock has become more popular. They obviously don't see the need for it, or at least not this year.

Of the line-up I'd see Kings of Leon, The Prodigy (at D/L anyway), Eagles of Death Metal, Deftones, AFI, and that's about it. The rest of it is either bands I really don't care about or bands that I really can't stand.

Also, in regards to the comment about the L/R crowd possibly spoiling Download's atmosphere - probably not, although from experience last year was about as close as it got thanks to one idiot during Kiss's set, and especially during Pendulum's set - there was a fair few people there who were antagonistic at the least. :P At least most of the rest of the festival went smoothly and most of the people I find at Download tend to be decent people.
