2nd headliner on Linkin Park day

Placebo have been announced for Reading + Leeds, which pretty much rules them out and Tool are at this All Points West festival in the States on Sonisphere weekend...

So who does that leave?

Placebo might not be ruled out. They aren't top 2 at Reading, and I doubt they are exclusive as they are doing that festival in scotland as a headliner in June as it is.

Either them or lets see if Janes Addiction come back into play? Neil said that deadline passed and sonisphere went on to booking over acts...but as announcement is taking ages means they could have got back to them after all?

I dunno, i'd love them to play that high up....I think it would get alot of people to go (i've got a couple mates for example who will go if Janes are confirmed) as it adds more variety to the bill.

I geuss we shall see soon, an announcemnt can't be that logn away. In fact hopefully Sonisphere's organisers/bookers knew about the Reading line up, saw how little there was for alternative/metal fans, and have some good stuff saved up *finghers crossed*

So you're gonna have to be looking further afield for a band now? The Offspring still not announced for any UK fests so could be in talks? That's about all I can think of.

tbh its almost a bit of retaliation at the dig Melvyn Benn (the reading director or whatever he's called) for his comments justifying his "more varied three day event" having a price hike. either way, this whole competition is now getting sad

Howsabout DEFTONES?? Seriously, the slot they've been given at Reading is shocking - very low and underneath Fallout Boy

As Deftones are more highly regarded in general rock circles (and were given a decent spot last time they played Download) couldn't Sonisphere give 'em a good slot? Sub-headlining under Linkin Park maybe? Also, didn't the 'Tones tour with LP during their "White Pony" era??

Judging by how low they are on the Reading bill i very much doubt their under any exclusivity contract so surely Sonisphere could do the decent thing and book 'em.......

Bear in mind Feeder headlined Download in 2005, they are big enough and certainly have the tunes. Feeder are a brilliant live band, anyone who's seen them will know this.
