BlackHole2006
Hey Guys, I was just wandering if there was any chance that Broken Social Scene could be playing, I was gonna see Stars last year, who I heared the female girl helped out with BSS, but missed them shockingly for Editors, who were alright, but I would have prefered to see Stars, but my sis and dad new Editors a bit more. I reckon it would be brilliant if the played, would make my glasto infact. What do you all think? Cheers, BlackHole2006
lovelessrapture
YES! broken social scene was so awesome, both times I've seen them at festivals and they've not disappointed me yet. I think they toured festivals in 2006 so I think this year they could back on the road doing them. Next album is apparently a proper broken social scene one too rather than a presents one. Petewasbristol
Hopefully so! Along with performances from Metric and Feist, that would be a treat!

lovelessrapture
I'd love it. They're possibly my favourite band. Their headline set at ATP was one of the most joyous experiences in my life. I may be being pedantic here though, but didn't Editors play on Friday and Stars on the Sunday? I heart Stars, but they're set was kind of lacklustre compared to recent times I've seen them
robith
That ATP set was pretty funky. I was sad to hear it got cut down due to the stage overrunning. And it was always gonna be the best bit of the event with the whole, "hey this is J Mascis", "hey this is Explosions in the Sky", " hey this is that girl from stars". I swear nearly half the bands at the festival all played with them during their set lol. But it was pretty awesome all round.
lovelessrapture
The stage overrunning is one way to put it. A more accurate way to put it would be De La Soul took an hour to soundcheck their orchestra. But I went to their Shepherd's Bush show and I saw the extra half hour - It's All Gonna Break! AMAZING Amy Millian is actually a member of BSS, she was on the whole tour covering the female vocal parts. I love her, but she fell a bit flat on Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl, but maybe that's because I've seen Emily Haines do it twice. I love the fact that with about 30 musicians on stage for Backed Out On The..., all you hear was J Mascis' guitar soloing over the top of them. That man goes up to 12 Edited April 2, 2009 by lovelessrapture
robith
I didn't see de le soul, I was at the other stage, can't remember what was on at that time (trail of dead maybe?) But I just remember thinking superconnected sounding wonderful. And the people I was with and around were all singing over the top of Anthems anyways lol she might aswell had not sung it at all lol. Mardy
just borrowed the latest BSS off the internet. Not too shabby at all. I like it. I've never come across them before. Nice one, all the people on this thread.

robith
They also came up with the best response to a heckler I've ever heard. It was a quite song and some bloke was shouting over the top. At the end, Brendan Canning said "To the man who was shouting, I hope that in the moment you realise you love your lover more than anything else in the world and you can't function without her, she breaks your heart and tells you she's met someone else"
angelheaded hipster
Wow I'd love this so so much - have never seen them live and always wanted to. Would be beyond great to see them actually play as BSS - another one for the 'people I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for' list... Oh, and that really is such a great response to a heckler - last time I saw Kimya Dawson there was a guy there for over half the show that could have really done with being told that Unfortunately all the performers were too polite though... Bradders
I think the only band I'd miss them for is Blur. They're top of my "bands I want to see" list.
Onion Terror
I would bloody love this, just can't see it happening though. I might be wrong but I've never seen them touring the UK and I've tried to look out for them for a couple of years now. Lovers Spit in the John Peel tent would be an arm in arm Glasto moment for me if it happened

FrayBentos
Forget about it, its not going to happen I have difficulties touring anyway and if they played any festival it wouldn't be glastonbury
Legs
Well they're playing one festival in Michigan the week after Glasto so highly doubtful if you ask me. They would have to have a few european dates before glastonbury which just aren't there. I was lucky enough to see them at Electric Picnic one year, fantastic stuff. ralph250
shame; would be a brilliant addition to the lineup.
