glasto_mongrel_2008
It was my first time at Glastonbury last year and as you all know the site is huge. I was there the full 5 days and still didn't know my way around by the time I left. I got a basic grasp of a couple of places but lost my bearings all the time. How long did it take you to get confortable with the layout?

ThomThomDrum
To get your bearings just do a lap on your first day on the monorail...........Always helps........
bombfrog
i'm pretty good with the west/middle/sout but still not too good on the north and east sides and i've been going since 2004.
cossie65
Some of it changes a bit year to year, but get to grips with the pyramid, accoustic, other, JP and the greenfields and youll be alright. If you know how to get from one to the other, you'll not go far wrong, the rest is up for exploration. (saying that , i have no idea what youre into). Theres also a decent glasto earth application that will (hopefully) be uploaded soon enough which is pretty good for pre-glastonbury mappings. have a great one and get lost as much as you can, it makes it all the more fun

ivan
My friend went for the first time in 2007 , despite having done other festivals , could not believe the size , but coped really well despite the mud. But when we returned in 2008 , she soon found her feet straight away !
norainplease
This will be my thrid year and I don't think that I will ever get my bearings fully! Although drinking less cider may help but that would defeat the purpose wouldn't it!! I love just stumbling across things while lost, it's the best way to have a great Glasto!! glasto_mongrel_2008
Just remembered my mission to find the Brothers bar!!! It took me 2 or 3 hours, I must've gone round every bit of the site twice except for the bloody Jazz World field! It's now firmly stamped on my RADAR. I'm also hoping to hang out with my fellow campers more this year as most of my exploring last year was done on my own. Chimps in Balaclavas
Back in 2000 I got lost at night while I was wasted and couldn't find my way back to my camp, so I asked a few people, a couple of those were lost themselves but 1 guy pointed out the light on the top of the Pyramid stage, which was great because I was camped right near there. Now everytime I lose my barings I look for the little light which to me is like a homing beacon & I just head for there, no matter where I am camped I always know my way to there from the Pyramid
amfy
It took me about 10 years to realise that the railway line is the key. If I can find that I can find anything as almost everything seems to be just off it, and it is usually an easer way of getting around in the mud too. angelheaded hipster
Last year was my forth, and although I've been pretty comfortable with the site before (good sense of direction), it was the first year I arrived and didn't even have to think about where I was going, I just knew all the main/unchanged areas immidiately. After a day or two when I realised that was the case I got very excited about it - ok, I won't have the fun of getting lost so much but there's such a lovely feeling about returning somewhere that's becoming so familiar... Plus I've gone from being someone asking directions to being able to give them without thinking which I found provides a lovely warm glow... Ahhh... roll on June! mouth
im really good with directions even when hammered. always find the tent and when around the site i tend to know things by seeing certain shops etc.
staggerlee
The tent is the only thing that I struggle to find and that is only for the first few nights. Usually try and pinpoint a nearby landmark, last year it was a Welsh flag that was about 100 yards opposite out tent. Unfortunately someone had the same tent as ours and I walked into that about 5 times, much to the owner's annoyance.
