cavelier5
Don't know if this has already been posted, but here are some really ace photos of the site a few weeks ago on this local website: http://www.pilton.com/pilton/festivalsite.htm It looks so peaceful. The sheep totally unaware of the carnage that will ensue in 12 weeks or so.

Dog Burger
I see one of those pics shows the beginning of work on the new A36 (M) that will run through the northern edge of the site.. They're moving on quickly with this, hadn't even started digging the foundations when I was in Pilton a couple of months ago and now you can clearly see the muddy track, showing where it will run... Work has begun on Pilton Services; one can only hope that it will include Welcome Break and it's excellent facilities

muddyslingbax
I heard the services were going to be the other side of the flyover, at the foot of the Tor, next to the new Avalon Retail Park, no?
Dog Burger
You clearly have insider information. Do you work for the council by chance?
oysterboy
ooh pretty! thanks for posting this! went to worthy farm two weekends ago for a walk and it was lovely and very surreal. the site empty looks a lot smaller than it is when the festival is on. had my first glasto downpour for the year which means NO MORE RAIN for this year -fingers crossed- will try and post a polaroid that i took of the sunset whilst i was there! BRING ON JUNE!

Pinhead
Does anyone local know what the impact of the A36 widening scheme will be at this point on the site boundary and / or enclosure?
Keef
Have you guys not been keeping up with developments? The A36(M) service area will be to the north of the site and will also be the new bus station and it will also be a new stop on the monorail. This is why you can't see the monorail at the moment, it's been taken down while they construct the new station. There were plans to put the new road into a tunnel underneath the site but the connection to the monorail and the need for passers by on the road to be able to gain a peek of the stages and what they're missing was deemed too important to bury the road. There were also concerns that the tunnel might take too much water away from the site and the trademark Glastonbury mud would be a thing of the past - as we all know, it's one of the reasons people go to Glasto, for the mud. It would be like taking the royal family away and still expecting Americans to visit this country.
Pinhead
I'd believe you were telling porky pies - if it wasn't for the insanity of past road building schemes that have devestated vast tracks of countryside . . .
