I bought a vango yukon 400 last year after going to a few wet festivals. Its a 4 man but has a nice big porch with 2 doors so if its raining you can atleast sit in the porch in chairs with a couple of other mates. The only thing is the bag it comes in is massive and a bit awkward to drag along but i stick it in a wheelbarrow and its fine then. I managed to look around the internet and get it for £125 when it was £145 in most places. The groundsheet is sewn in to the whole size of the tent so you dont get any water getting in if it rains.

Its a tunnel tent.

That means more usable space for the weight, the downside is they are usually dependent on guy ropes for their strength, and if the guy ropes get slack, the waterproof outer sag, and water pools on the top and could come through.

The shape looks better than most, but you may want to check the guy ropes regularly at a festival.

The brand, been going years, the old orange ridge is a classic of days gone by. Films of expeditions in Antarctica, Everest etc upto the mid 90's, you see an orange ridge tent, chances are it is a Vango.

I never thought buying a tent could be this hard i spent less time buying my car lol i now have my wish list for a tent just need to find one that ticks all the boxes for £150 or less

1. Not too big when packed up

2. Good size porch area

3. Easy to pitch

4. not too dependent on guide ropes for strength (due to last year when we got back and the guide ropes on our tent had been pulled out of the ground and our tent was surrounded by tents that was touching ours.

5. good ventilation for sunny days at glasto

Think that's it every time i think I'm going to buy one i see something different i just cant make my mind up

I've got the Beta 450. Done me proud for the last few years, wet festivals and general camping.

It's about 7kg so it's not too heavy and can be carried from the carparks to Pennards without a trolley. It's easy to pitch. You can't stand up in it but that's never bothered me. Vango seems to make quality gear, I've had one of their Voyager sleeping bags for years and it's still going strong.

I too have a Vango Beta 450.

Tested it out the other day when walking at it was great. Very easy to pitch, good quality and large.

I picked mine up off ebay, unused for 50 quid.

My last three tents have all been tunnel tents as they seem to be easy to pitch and tear down.

I have the Vango 350. The porch is huge and its very easy to pitch, but to be honest it isn't as great as I thought it would be.

Used it the other week camping, first time. Because the inner bedroom door is single lined (you normally have two with an inner fly door, or whatever its called) I did find it very cold.

The porch ground sheet is attached to the bedroom, so if you're pitched on uneven ground its very difficult to line up with the outer fly sheet.

To be honest it depends what you're after. People rave about Vango, but I'll always swear by the lesser known Royal. A superb tent manufacturer. Just wish I'd stuck with them.

I've got the Vango Beta 450, and the bedroom has a zipped fly screen mesh on the top-half, and normal zipped tent material; so I can close that to stay warm, or open it up for ventilation (without insects coming in). Doesn't seem any different to any other tent I've ever seen. Is this omitted on the Beta 350?
