I haven't seen them since Electric Picnic 2006. A performance which was brilliant but unfortunately marred for me, by two twathead girls standing behind me, waiting for Groove Armada who kept trying to burn my hair with a lighter. Apparently I '...deserved it for having hair like that'.

Incidentally, that was a great line-up for a festival... I wish dEUS would do Glastonbury.

Flaming lips played the picnic in '05 (not the same year as groove armada and deus)..and their set was indeed great (if a little too focussed on singles, but then again, it's a festy and they were up against Kraftwerk!)...Still think '05 was the best picnic, arcade fire followed by doves, followed by the flaming lips followed by fatboy slim and then on to lost vagueness where they hadn't realised that we have draconian licensing laws in Ireland and they continued to serve drink til about 2am!....

Oh you're right! I dont have a great memory for line-ups. It was Fatboy Slim they were waiting for not GA.

I was confused because I couldnt quite remember who was on after F'lips as was decidely disinterested in that sort of music at the time. Groove Armada were on after New Order in '06 werent they?

Mercury Rev were amazing in '05. It was quite genius having them and F'lips play one day after the other.

I havent been since '06. What's it like these days? '05 was amazingly good. Tipsy on sparkly wine, surrounded by fairies and men dressed as sperm. The fairground was quite good. I genuinely enjoyed the ghost house. Is it worth going back? I worry that it will have lost it's eclectic nature.

a quick shift at the Flaming Lips tour dates shows that this is now no longer a possibility. They will already have left the UK by the time the festival starts.
