Which is best car park for getting the quickest exit on Monday morning?

This will be my first Glasto and I’m trying to decide which car park to use. My main priority is to get the quickest possible exit on the Monday morning.

I realise that all roads will be completely grid locked but some exits must be slightly better than others.

Or is my question immaterial because you don’t have a choice where you park? Do you simply get sent to next available free one when you arrive?

Whether or not it makes any difference, we plan to arrive on site around midnight on the Wednesday and want to leave 8am ish on the Monday.

Any car parking comments gratefully received.

Thanks.

You do just get allocated the next available spot so basically, the earlier you arrive, the longer it'll take you to get out.

One trick we've seen a few people do is to get there Wednesday, but nip off site to the local sainsburies for beers etc on Thursday afternoon and get parked further out.

Does that make sense? It did in my head.

You'll have to park where you're told to. If you want to guarantee getting out fast, you need to be in the car and driving by 6am Monday at the latest, or else wait till 6pm... You'll be in W car parks from the red route, E from the blue, and traditionally the blue car parks are less hassle to get out of.

It's a question that's totally impossible to answer accurately.

The only "choice" you really get over fields is within which route you take to get to the festival site, which will determine whether you park in the East or West Car Parks - beyond that you're at the mercy of the stewards and will be put into whichever field they are filling up at the time.

I think we left at about 11 or 12 last year from W21, which should theoretically be one of the longest queues at one of the busiest times but we got onto the road within a few minutes or so. Your mileage will vary, in my view to such an extent that it's not worth worrying about.

I think the west carparks are better. But depending where you're coming from you'll have to do a huge great detour to get to it because they start pushing glasto traffic onto a particular route from quite a way away. But if you can navigate a big circle round to get to west, I think it's worth it - both for getting in and getting out.

We're going on Wednesday this year but inprevious years have always arrived at about 2-3pm Thursday. We've always ended up right on the edge of the car park and got literally straight out. Like 2-3 mins from stationary to one the road.

As we're heading home listening to the radio we always hear the people calling and texting in saying that they're still stuck in the car park waiting to get out of Glastonbury and do I feel smug?

No .......I feel jealous! I actually feel jealous that they're still there and I'm on my way home! Even though they're just stuck in a car park! Isn't that the maddest thing? The worst thing about Glastonbury is that it ends - I hate that!

It really is luck of the draw. You get one vehicle break down on the roads leading away from the festival and it's chaos. Happens every year but a lottery as to what time.

The only realy way to be sure of a hasty exit is to leave late at night on Sunday or in the very early hours of Monday morning.

The last 2 years I have left between 7-8 am and driven straight out, my friend who left about 2 hours later (about 9am) took 3 hours just to get out of the car park.

Up to you but if you really don't want to wait I would suggest getting up early on the monday

good tip is to try and make a trip to the car the day before if you can so that all you have to carry in the morning is the tent and sleeping bag! Packing up camp at 7 am when its rained for 6 days solid is even less fun if you have to make 2 trips to the car!

:( im so excited (about Glasto not about the parking lol)
