Car Park Saftey

Hi all

This is going to be my first glastonbury, Currently there is 5 of us comin down on the coach from Warrington. These last few days i've been considering renting a family sized car like a zafira or similar which works out cheaper than the coach, Obviously we can split the petrol. I was wondering how safe the car parks actually are at Glastonbury, I really dont want a car that isn't mine to get damaged or to dissapear although i think there would be some insurance in my rental costs.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank You

Just noticed i can't spell safety...

I have been 2007 and 2008 never had any problems or seen any there is security/stewards all over the place and the car parks are well lit based on what i have seen i wouldn't worry about it at all but to be on the safe side just keep valuables out of sight if your leaving them in your car :(

Forgot about the mud in 2007 my mate got his car stuck and some random 60 year old women came and helped me push him out of the mud it was like something out of a comedy film he got out of the mud and wheels kicked up mud i was covered head to toe in mud but then he wouldn't stop cos he didn't want to get stuck again so i had to chase the car for ages lol

Glasto is no different to any town or city of 160,000 people. Over a week you'll have accidents, incidents, burglaries etc. Just take the same precautions that you'd take if you were going anywhere else for a week in a hire car. One tip is leave things like gloveboxes open so people looking in can see there's nothing special to nick.

I would just like to add.

Upto about 2002 anyone was allowed to wander round the car parks , ticket sellers , t shirt sellers , as well as a few undesirables.

Now you cannot really get near the car parks without a ticket so the car parks are very safe.

I must have been to 50 festivals over the years , and my car has never been touched.

Obvious things like do not leave phones or sat nav on display , and you will be fine !

:)

The car parks are really safe from what I have seen. We have been in 2005, 2007 and 2008 with multiple cars and never had a problem. Obviously don't leave anything on display. Also don't leave anything in the glove compartment and then open up the glove compartment so that IF (and a big if) there are any undesirables, they know that there is not a nice new TomTom hidden in the glove compartment.

Thank You everyone, I've priced up a car rental todayan i'm gonna be lookin at £230 for a car rental between 5 of us compared to £255 the coach has cost, not a great difference but i think its more the comfort of being able to set off and come home when i want, and possibly shave a couple of hours off the journey too.
