Met Anyone Special at Glasto?

Just wondering if anyone has met/spoken to a celebrity or artist at Glastonbury in the past.

Last year I spoke to Jon McClure AKA The Reverend from Rev. & The Makers

and Sam Duckworth from Get Cape.Wear Cape. Fly

also saw Zane Lowe wondering around the site with a TV crew but didn't speak to him.

Seeing as I'm a Glasto virgin, I have nothing to add here obviously...however, at Lollapalooza last year I did run into Lindsay Lohan (Sam Ronson was DJing that day), and spotted Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz backstage during Mark Ronson's set that year too. That's my only celebrity festival experience as of yet, which is odd seeing as I am kind of famed for my skill of meeting music celebrities, apparently a skill that doesn't extend to festivals.

Wiz (RIP) from Mega City 4 (if you remember them) stood next to me watching the Lemonheads many years ago. MC4 were one of my favourite bands at the time, I had a chat and scrounged a ciggie from him, not exactly A list I know but it made my day!

Obviously the list is quite long!

Some special ones though....meeting Eavis for the first time. Always nice to catch up with him since then, we've remained in contact and I'll try and meet up with him again this year.

Meeting Paul McCartney...there's just somethign about the man!

Oh, and meeting Eddy Grant last year...he's done some amazing things with his career so it was an honour to chat to him.

Aside from that, the usual excitable band members hanging around backstage trying to be noticed - I stay clear of that and mingle in the coolest areas of Glastonbury - the public ones. Trust me, backstage is nothing special. I spend as little time there as possible!

On the saturday night in 2007 i ended up talking to David Mitchell (mark from the peep show) and his g/f till sunrise he denied been him but he was the spiting image even had the same really dark pupils and the other girl i was talking to at the same time agreed it was him so on that basis im using it as my claim to fame

I ran into John from Nizlopi (around 2005) and as i love Nizlopi (and with the help of a lot of alcohol) i got over excited and started sprouting sh*te about how my middle name was the same as his first. God that wasn't one of my best moments.

I also saw Ned from 'Neighbours' last year (no idea what his real name is) up near the Park Stage. We sat down with our nachos and looked around and he was sat next to us, didn't talk to him though lol. Loads of people were walking past and singing the Neighbour's theme song.

Mark Radcliffe extremely politely and kindly let me get served before him at the bar up by the John Peel tent even though he'd been waiting longer - what a gent!

My best Glasto celebrity moment was sharing a splif with Howard Marks.

He had just introduced Alabama 3 on the Jazz World stage and I caught him and made him smoke! ...Well... he didn't need much encouragement!

Last year on The Wed afternoon I Met & spoke to Tim & Athene from 3 Daft Monkeys.

They walked past the Band Stand while another act was performing & I collared them.

TBH I've spoken to them at previous Fests & gigs and they prob worried I was stalking them for a while! LOL

I seriously tried to chat up Beyonce last year (this really is not a joke) and didn't recognize her for a few minutes. Once I did I panicked, got shy and ran away (I'm sure if I'd kept my cool I'd of been in there... Of course). Also "the Reverend" invited me to a late night party he hosted in a van in one of the car parks last year on the Friday. Did anyone else here of this? He is a nice guy. John was his name? My mate saw him and shouted "oi, Rev" he came over and joined us while we ate dinner.

Also over previous years (to mention just a very few) I was charmed by Jonny Borrel and Liam Gallegher, told to f*ck off by that fat nonse who sings with Keane, my Dad had a big argument with Kate Moss. The list is endless.

Best time I remember was when Nigel Kennedy stayed up with me until 7am one Monday morning because he said my joint rolling skills were "genius".

Maybe I'm just lucky but I seem to fall over celebs there.

Ryan Jarvis on his way back from the pyramid watching his mrs play last year. Rather bizarely stood next to Peter Duncan at the pyamid watching gilbert o sulivan. Andy Marr going to watch the ting tings ( we were leaving after glasvegas!).

Previous years, Arthur Smith from grumpy old men, gazza in 2003, colin and edith 2003, Johnny Greenwood 2003, Mani leaving the guardian lounge.

My gf says I have a knack for spotting them. They are everywhere really just need to keep your eyes open.
