Hi

Working out the logistics of getting 4 people and all our stuff from Newcastle to Glastonbury. We want to leave on Tuesday, stay over some where local so we can get there on Wednesday for the gates opening.

Seems silly to take two cars plus its me and my boyfriend and two of my mates but they do not know each other. This causes problems with hotel rooms and taking two cars because only two of the four drive.

Have looked at a varity of options hire 7 seater car, minibus or van then staying in hotel or B&B

SO I have been looking at hiring a campervan for the week simple to drive down in and sleep in on Tuesday night as it will work out cheaper and sorts out lots of problems. Its big enough for all four people and our camping kit.

Would I be able to park it in the car park fields? We would not be staying in it at all over the festival.

Thanks

yeah wouldn't see why not.

if you're unsure ring the glastonbury festival office? to double check before taking a camper van down.

the number is on the official website.

me and my friends are also driving down from newcastle ;) but are just driving down on the wednesday morning leaving at 7 am.

didn't get to the festival til 5 pm on the wed last year and still got a pretty good spot for camping.

yeah we are bringing ours down - saw quite a few in the carpark last year, quite cool some of them. As already said, you wont be able to sleep in it - but then why would you want to when the carpark is so far away from all the glasto goings on.

As people say, yes any vehicle is fine.

Ive parked my campervan there a couple of times, and to be honest, a trip back one morning in the middle of the festival to stock up on supplies and use your own bathroom and shower in peace for half an hour is bliss, even though it is cheating a little bit (tho it was in muddy years!).

In the carpark i use, the bigger vehicles tend to get directed to the top of the hill if they get there early, the more sturdy parking spots that are less likely to ge boggy if it rains, which is actually closer to the entrance - result!

But a word of warning, the normal carparks and roads arent the best and arent desinged for anything much bigger than a car, and if its wet i would advise keeping off the grass as much as possible, and getting away early. On the way out in 07, when several exits were becoming blocked due to stuck cars, trying to do a 3 point turn in a big camper on the tiny thin 'road' became a 9 point turn, and resulted in me knocking over a little bit of eavis' fence (sorry big e!). The only year its taken me longer than a couple of hours to exit the carparks, took about 6 hours!
