Sam Crawley
I don't care what anyone does as long as it doesn't impact on others.. smoking peeps - just get those new-fangled smokeless cigarette things like here, then everyone is happy, no? grandadcollective
Everybody knows smoking makes you look hard and cool. I'm stood in front of a mirror right now, smoking and checking out just how hard and cool I look. Amazing.
beamends
Why not smoke? Don't like being smelly Well no I wouldn't advocate that. I just don't get smoking. Food is needed whether it is good or bad for you, drink gets you drunk, drugs get you high, toxic fumes can't be helped but smoking does.......eh......makes the addicted feel normal? Whats the frigging point in my view?
ThomThomDrum
I hope it's not my inability to interact with strangers, I do feel I can interact with different people and strangers, the thing I found was it was always the same though; 'f**king smoking ban...' 'I work hard all week, and then they make me stand outside...' ect.
Kyelo
There you go, you don't understand so therefore it must be rubbish. There's a whole load of things I don't "get", but why should that worry me, and if that's what people want to do that's just great. Having given up the booze since the ban (not a conscious decision, just why go to the pub and stand outside and I never drank at home anyway) I can assure drinkers that they stink something rotten, even the next morning after ablutions. I've saved a shed load of dosh, feel better, oh wait, where I have I heard that before.... But I'd fight for others right to have a drink if that's what they want. I think people would benefit from a good long look in the mirror before critisising others lifestyle choices, as we all, whether we know it or not, annoy the hell out of others for some reason(s) or other - and the ones who think they are the most wonderful are usually the worst offenders. Some of us admit our foibles though, and therefore make allowances for others. as we would like others to do for us. If everyone would just lighten up and be a bit more realistic the world would be so much more pleasant.
Josie's Cat
It does keep you thin - appetite suppressant isn't it? But yeah, apart from that, no real point.
HuggyHare
I was smoking in pubs and clubs for 20 odd years. I love smoking for the simple reason that it feels good. I hate the downsides, you know, cancer, death etc. I can't justify my smoke going up someone else's lugholes so I agree with the indoor smoking ban. I'm just surprised I got away with it for so long! tylerdurden
At the end of the day, the Government makes alot more money off Nicotine patches, gum etc. Than it now does off Tobacco. It has realised this and has begun to promote the hell out of Nicotine, and destroy the reputation of Tobacco. Do you conduct your own little experiments to prove Cigarettes are dangerous? NO your information is allllll Second Hand. When they realise that they can make shitload off Weed and Pills, they'll start legallising and selling them aswell. beamends
Enlighten me then? What is the point? Unless you are a teenager smoking tobacco through a bong your unlikely to be getting 'niccy buzzes', most addicted smokers 'need' a fag ie to feel normal. People seem to be arguing for the social side of it, well fair enough but I have no problem speaking to randoms in other situations so thats a pretty lame excuse. It's 'cool', that depends on which part of society you come from. I am not any Nazi saying people should not smoke, I have several friends and family members that smoke I just don't see the benefits in it at all. There are arguments against drink, drugs, certain foods but like I said they get you drunk, high and food is necessary. So there are physical rewards for doing these things, there are none with fags. People can smoke all they like, there is just no point to it.

beamends
I very much doubt that, any source for that info?
ShadyBlueBell
I'd have to disagree. I was a full time smoker until December '07. Standing outside cold pubs with strangers whilst your mates are inside is not cool. God bless the smoking ban I say, I feel better, don't smell, and have already saved shed loads! ShadyBlueBell
Smokers quoting Bill Hicks to justify themselves, how tiresome. Hardcore anti smoking people are pretty boring. But smokers banging on about how cool they are = just as boring. Smokers complaining about the smoking ban = how f**king selfish are you? Smoking has a direct impact on EVERYBODY around you. You can chose to smoke outside but if people who don't smoke are around you are running roughshoud over their choice not to smoke. It's not too hard to just move outside for five minutes is it? Most of the smokers I know quite enjoy their little sojourns outside. You can do whatever you want to your own body, but why not think about the impact it has on others. For the ledger, I dislike smoking because tobacco corporations rip off farmers in the third world, who are then addicted to the products that are sold back to them at inflated prices continuing the cycle of poverty. Kyelo
People who over drink have a bad impact around those who drink sensibly this will go on and on, drinkers do not go on about smokers when you have a worse habit that makes you act like a total and utter idiot, vomit all over and pee up against a wall and may i say gives you server liver problems. Everything we like is bad for you but sick and tired on non smokers who drink preaching when really they are just as BAD
beamends
Smoke from all smokers irrates or is unpleasant for most non-smokers. Not all drinkers pee, vomit or act an idiot. End of.
Kyelo
Give up the drink for about 3 months, the go out for the evening. When you've done that come back and report. llcoolphil
The best way to stop people moaning about smoking is to make everyone smoke, that is what the government should be aiming for. Then we will all be smelly and ill but at least we will be united in it, and we will look cool while we're doing it.
