Tickets on sale too early this year?

After last years uncertainty it certainly made sense to put the tickets on sale early to give them plenty of time to sell.

However, normally I don't allow myself to get excited about Glastonbury until April when I get that (usually long awaited) confirmation email that YES I've managed to secure a little bit of gold!

Usually I'm walking on air for the next couple of weeks just knowing I'm going.

After the initial excitement, there are the lineup rumours, confirmed lineup, clash finders, working out the "perfect" route (ignoring realities of time and space, e.g. you can't really nip to the park stage between acts on the pyramid to catch a couple of songs), discussing every aspect of the festival and talking random crap on this very forum, then the sheer anticipation of the couple of weeks before the festival itself.

In contrast, this year of course I was excited to get my ticket - but it seemed too far off to get as excited as I usually do. It was nice at Christmas / New Year knowing I already had a ticket, but by February my enthusiasm started to wayne.

The forum is a lot more negative than I've ever remembered it, too many pro/anti boss/neil young/blur threads etc, so much so that I've not even bothered logging on for the past month or so. Perhaps all the negativity springs from everyone else feeling a bit jaded too?

So here we are just 10 weeks or so to go, and I'm looking forward to it, I've bought my new popup tent and sleeping bag with inflatable matress, but I'm not really excited yet - which feels unnatural not to be excited about Glastonbury!

Is it just me?

As long as I have my ticket, not bothered when I get it, but there wasn't the usual mass excitement this April when everyone would've been trying previously.

It's getting closer though now, and I'm starting to switch into festival mode already. Soon time to start buying needless, and needful, camping/festival gear! :)

I get what you mean. I have been excited since I got my ticket in October but not quite the same constant excited feeling/somethign to look forward to in the not-to-distant future type feeling like i do in April.

What got me very excited today was when I realised that between now and Glastonbury, I only have six more full weeks in the office. By the end of April, two of those full weeks will be gone and I only have four left. For some reason that sounds much better than '9 weeks 'til Glastonbury'!
