Laura_Babs
We have a small 3/4 man dome tent that we have used for the past 3 Glastonburys. We don't want to get rid of it. It has kept us dry through the torrential rain of 2005 and since. But it is a little on the small size for me and my 6ft4 boyfriend. So I have just been looking at a sun canopy on the internet which seems to basically act as an extension to the porsche area. Has anyone ever used one of these attached to a dome tent? Are they any good? Really my main requirement is more space to store stuff to change in/faff around in whilst my boyfriends still asleep. Will this do the trick? grumpyhack
We have an encampment of five tents in a circle with a concertina fold out gazebo in the middle (we paid about about £70 from Argos a few years ago but Halfords are now doing them for £50). It's 3 metres square and goes up in about three minutes. Put that outsisde your tent and you have a lovely area for shade/shelter. You can even get sides to it (some with windows) so that it's like an extension to your tent. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165669 Edited April 19, 2009 by grumpyhack

Josie's Cat
How about this one from Argos - gazebo plus side panels for 30 quid? Argos super duper cheap gazebo!! Also it looks like they do a very similar one to the green Halfords one for £12.99? it is 2.4 metres square so maybe a little smaller, but for 13 pounds who's complaining? grumpyhack
Agreed. A proper concertina gazebo or nothing.
Josie's Cat
Oh really? Cheers then, was thinkng about getting it! How about the green one, for 13 quid, is that any good or made of cardboard and paper clips as well? Should I be looking (if I was going to take one) for pop up, or concertina? Is that the benchmark? r0cky
Really? We've used a cheapo slot together pole gazebo for a multitude of festivals over the past 5 years and had no bother at all - so long as the guyropes are used it's held up to some pretty strong gusts too. We've usually left 1 of 3 pole sections off the legs though - it reduces head room but it seems to keep loads more heat around you during the cold nights, even without walls. maybe we've just been lucky tho

saybut
have you had a look at these below.. tarpolin's from halfords, they're waterproof, we've taken them camping before and had no problems at all. Had trees to tie them to thoguh so you may need to improvise.. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...p;x=20&y=
port
Hi, we've just bought 2 of these without the doors and we are going to put them together instead of a gazebo.. but since you mentioned getting changed etc,, this one with the door would be more suitable http://www.vango.co.uk/products/tentsInfo....id=97&id=
Al the CAT
I took a Quechua Tarp canopy last year, and used it more like a windbreak / shelter than an 'over-the-top' canopy. It gave us a space to sit / lie outside the tent during the mornings rather than baking inside the tent. This year I think we're taking a few smaller tents rather than one big one, but will probably use the canopy somehow or other, fortunately it's quite adaptable. I think if you get a tarp and poles, take lots of guy lines as well, as the canopy needs to be tied out well to keep it up (you haven't got the framework like a tent). But if you are running out lots of guy ropes, decorate them or light them up, so the masses don't go flying over them Edited April 25, 2009 by Al the CAT
