Thursday morning arrrival

Hi there

Trying to convince hubby that we need to get to site as early as possible. He reckons that if we get there for about 8am on Thursday morning it should be ok. I was thinking more of leaving at 2am getting to site for about 5-6ish (don't know what the traffic will be like) to pitch tent etc.

Are we leaving it too late - we have fairly big tent as there will be four of us?

Cheers

your not leaving it late, there will still be places, but buy midday thursday the amount of good spots will be small. Regulars no where stays dry, wheres close to food stalls, wheres near their favourtie stage. So these spots will be gone.

I'd say get there as early as possible. Wednesday if it can be done??

Edit: Oh just read the bit about the big tent bit. To find enough space for a very big tent good be tricky. i'd say early

I would say the earlier the better, particularly with the big tent! My theory is always get there sooner rather than later then at least once you are there you can set up and then just relax with a drink/have a nap/explore! Those extra couple of hours are better spent at Glastonbury I think.

I'd generally go with the earlier is better than later theory, and in fact with a 3-4 hour drive would suggest that you travel the night before even if it means arriving at 2am (then you could put the tent at a lock-up, go for a nightime walk, soak up the atmosphere, identify a spot and decide whether to pitch there and then or wait a bit till daylight).

If you really can't leave earlier tho, in reality the number of people coming thru the gates between about 3 and 8am is pretty small (and are very welcome by the gate people who are feeling tired, cold and lonely by then ;o) - its usually just a handful of folk who've driven a looooong way straight from work on wednesday, so it wouldn't make much difference to just getting in & finding space.

Enjoy!
