Getting in for free on Sunday after 5pm

Pretty sure it used to happen back in the day, remember lots of nice clean local people, smartish ladies in their 50's and 60's wandering round in groups on sunday evening, looking amused at the carnage that had been caused. Maybe they've stopped it since.

i had two friends get in on the sunday 2007 after 3 days of trying

they eventually got in around midday on the sunday as two guys having to leave gave them their wristbands, tickets and stub thingies, they looked nothing like the guys on the tickets and one of them was supposed to be greek despite blatantly not looking anything like a greek person but they went for it anyway and were surprised when the staff on the gate checked their tickets and wristbands and then just waved them through!

Wots this "lady in her 50s" business....sounds as though you're saying 50s is ancient? That makes me ancient I guess in meaningless chronological time...in real time Im as young as the rest of you...but Im not ageist and fully expect to take my Mum this year (76) and my sons (7 and 13)....

A lady in her 50s getting muddy, how outrageous...

Dont be so bloody ageist....

Back to the original point - last year the gates were empty and unmanned from around midnight on Sunday night - I remember being a bit surprised as we went back to our campervan then I went out again - was thinking it strange that they maintain such good security all the way through the security then for the last few hours when everyone will be partying they let it all go! Just to be specific - I'm talking about the gates out past Leftfield - just before the Hill of Death - all totally open and deserted.

Edit: By the way - as I hadn't been back to the camper all day, I can't say about the 5pm timing mentioned in the original question - but deffo later all was open.

I only mentioned their ages as in the context, combined with their dress, it very much made them stand out, which is what made me find out that they were locals getting in on a special sunday evening ticket.

The notion that mentioning someone's age when relevant to the context is ageist is absurd. Ageism is discriminating against or stereotyping someone on the basis of age.

Anyhoo. Anyone know if there did used to be these sunday tickets?
