Afternoon peeps, just noticed Baaba Maal as a new Strong Rumour on here, mighty fine news though I'm not sure what that's based on - perhaps that he's about and doing festivals (Amsterdam a week before) and he's played Glasto before. For those of you who don't know him, he's a wonderful Senegalese singer and guitarist, check out tunes like Baayo on Spotify. I'd imagine he'd occupy a respectable slot on Jazz World.

he's doing Meltdown in the UK around Glasto time, and I'd had previous info which suggested he might be playing Glasto. Hopefully 2+2 is equalling four.

He's played Glasto at least once previously..... he was a part of the Africa Express thing on The Park stage in 2007.

I have a feeling that he's also played Jazzworld somewhen too, tho can't find any easy record of that.

edit: ahhhh, found it - he played in 2005 as well, as "Baaba Maal featuring Daande Lenol".

According to teh interwebs, it was Sat in 2005 on Jazz World, went down very well by all accounts.

I have never seen him live,only seen him on tv.He is Africa's son..very talented,a legend in his own right.Being from Botswana,Southern Africa...seeing him perform will be one of those treats coz we've only heard about him this side!And a cherry on top for my first Glasto experience.

Oh,by the way i come from country with 1.7 million population.I hope the number of people at Glasto wont overwhelm me.

Since i'm a glasto virgin...any advice you can give to a chicca coming from a country with 4 people.You'd be perfect in understanding why i am a bit nervous!From what i read the place is huge more like the whole of Gabs.So break it down to me in Gabs terms..like from Linga Longa to where?
