Channel M is no more

Bit of a tenuous link to Glasto in that I've been recording the Channel M music sessions to check out some of the smaller acts that are playing Glasto.

In case you don't know, Channel M is the Manchester TV channel (available nationally on Sky) owned by the guardian that had 3 or 4 live bands a week on, most of them lesser known bands.

I've seen some wicked sessions on there from bands like The Whip, Fanfarlo, Everything Everything, Metronomy, Delphic and indeed I was in the audience for the marvellous Emmy the Great.

Apparently it was losing £200K a week so not a surprise it's been pulled, but a shame that with so many TV channels none of them can put lesser known bands on.

What ****ing bullshit. Never could seem to receive it, but watched online stuff, and they always liked to cover local demos and things like that. Local papers like the South Manchester Recorder are facing closure, even though they and the MEN and others are doing quite well. It's the Guardian facing the losses.
