Lock Up

After the long awaited release of the line up for the Lock up, the festival organisers split up rise against and Anti flag. Then they go and clash rise against wit prodigy and monkeys.

Now choosing between them is not difficult (Rise against all the way) but to pay so much for a ticket only to have the organisers seperate all the fans with clashes like that is outragous.

Just like last year (Rage and Less than Jake) they seem to only care about getting numbers in the door and not about the fans!

I honestly can't believe that they treat the punters like this and hope that the people responsible for such a stupid decision are happy that they will end up P****** off many fans.

I feel like the mug for paying for the ticket but with little choice of festivals in this country (glasto is for Pop and indie, V is for watever they can sign and isle of wight being generally for the older generations)

i think this will be the last time for many reading regulars like myself, i'll be looking to europe from now on where the prices are fair and the organisers appear to care!

I long and hope that Reading learns from it's mistakes before it becomes just another corporate whore with a million pound gate!!!!

I really don't understand what the hell you're complaining about? That AM's and Rise Against clash? Cause someone had to clash with them yanno.

What should they have done? Made Rise Against clash free so the tent had twice it's capacity and you couldn't get in anyway? Or if you did you'd be crushed?

Confused the hell out of me.

I'm glad prodigy are under AM. I don't mind arctic monkeys but love prodigy and also love rise against. If prodigy were headlining then I'd have to choose between them and rise against but as it is, I don't have to  I know a lot of people who are please they can watch someone decent instead of arctic monkeys too.. People who are really that bothered about the clashes tend to just see half of one set and half of the other anyway..?

It also helps that with a band that will please the majority of the crowd going this year, AM, the tent wont be proper packed out..

There's far more ways that indicate it becoming corporate than band clashes... (ie. ticket price etc) Clashes hapen at most festivals... And the whole AM/ Prodigy Vs. Rise Against I dont imagine causes too many problems for general masses. I really don't see your point - by any chance do you work for Sonisphere..?

To be honest clashes also means choice - I'd rather have choice anyday than staggered times where I will have long waits between bands I want to see... surely that means less value for money?

I remember one year The Distillers clashing with the Wildhearts AND Pretty Girls Make Graves - i was hacked right off!

Wait til FNM get added, them or Billy Talent? Ggrrrrrr! Well, actually it's easy - FNM!

But yeah, it's tricky right now cos the festival seems to be split into 2 camps. We got the indie crowd and the rock crowd and there's too many rock bands clashing, strange as rock seems to be in the minority at the mo. With a strange lack of dance and hip-hop (a complete lack of variety FULL STOP) i can see the clashes just getting worse.

As for the Sonisphere staggered times thing. No complaints from me when the line-up is as strong as it is! I really think Sonisphere has managed the quality over quantity thing and that's before the 3rd (after hours) stage has been announced :(

I'm moaning because for the amount of money the festival charge they could do a better Job or arranging the bands.

I know some bands will always clash, but surely if the festival was arranged for the FANS as opposed to for the Money we would be able to see more of our favourite bands without the necessary headaches that come with arranging our days so they won't clash.

To get to the front in RA will mean leaving during the prodigy set and likewise for the artic moneys.

This same thing happened last year with RAGE and less than Jak, and i don't see why 2 of the most popular acts of the weekend should clash.

I would be far happier seeing RA with Anti flag on the friday (which would make more sense) and having them clash with Kings rather than having to miss part of the sets of Prodigy RA and Monkeys.

If you dis agree fair enough we all have our opinions but it is clear as day this festival has turned into a corporate whore and while there are people defending it (like you) it will get worse.

That is why this year will see an unpresidented amount of tw*** wearing tight jeans shirts and ties to a festival who think they are clever and funny and miss the real point of the festival.

This is the real issue.

Prodigy have been knocked down the bill for Arctic monkeys! this says it all.

I was there when Prodigy headlined and it was a REAL festivals.

Gone are thouse days, and now it's a indie kiddie festival with a big corporate background!!

Goodbye carling festival hello corporate whore!!!!

besides.....those lock up bands are really different to the main stage bands.

why don't you give the organisers a tinkle and get them to change the running order or perhaps they can maybe just pay your favourite bands to play in your living room, thus avoiding any risk of you missing your favourite bands?!
